Off Meta Junglers
Breaking the meta is a great way to surprise enemies in champ select and take advantage of players who don't know how to play against your pick. These are some of my favorite jungle picks that I've both enjoyed and used to great effect. Don't knock 'em if you haven't tried 'em!
My personal favorite. Weak early, but once you hit level 6...imagine if Amumu's ult was on a 69 second cooldown. His lack of sustain does mean that you will want to start smiteless red and finish that side jungle, then pick up Trailblazer only to sell it after you finish your Hydra. Don't worry, you will clear jungle more than quickly enough to make up the 255g deficit.
W, Q, E, max W, max Q, max E. You NEED flat AD marks and quints, flat armor seals, and flat CDR glyphs.
Like a Warwick with faster clears and more CC. Can build both AD and AP, but AD clears far better. This guy shreds jungle almost as fast as Shyvana, rips dragon a new one if you remember to bring blue buff and a pink ward, and is a major splitpushing and dueling threat. Just watch your positioning, because you are squishy and immobile.
W, Q, E, max Q, max E, max W. Spam your W three times on the fountain pre jungle spawn to charge your passive. Take runes and masteries that allow you to hit the CDR cap, your voidlings scale with CDR. When going AD, don't be afraid to grab Elixir of Splitpushing (Elixir of Ruin) and melt a tower or two.
Are you tired of devourer Yi finding you and eating you alive? Do you like to kite jungle monsters? Do you have a team with high CC and utility that still needs tons of damage? If you answered yes to any or all of these questions, then Quinn jungle is for you!
E, Q, W, max Q, max E, max W. Like all ADCs in the jungle, you are weak early and prone to invades, so use your W to avoid facechecking.
Her passive is right at home in the jungle, and I've never met a laner on the enemy team who expected a Dark Binding to come flying out a bush at them at the four minute mark. The Runeglaive changes actually made her clear way faster and easier, giving her the sustain of Fiddlesticks and clear speed comparable to Sejuani or Skarner.
W, Q, W, Q, W, R, E, max W, max, Q, max E. Take AS marks, flat armor seals, scaling CDR glyphs, and AP or spellvamp quints. If you are super cheesy and plan on ganking a lot early, get mobi boots instead. Also, if you have full build and can sell your Runeglaive for a Morellonomicon or Grail, do it. This goes for almost any champ who goes Trailblazer with Warrior or Runeglaive enchant.
W + Smite combo at level 1 takes 60% of Gromp's health, and his kit has as much or more synergy with Cinderhulk than the likes of Zac and Shen. I'm calling it now, this fish will be Gragas on patches 5.5-5.11 in the LCS if he gets one more buff to his jungling.
W, Q, E, max W, max Q, max E. Keep in mind that you can't devour the buff camps, so save smite for them when you can. AS and CDR are really powerful on Tahm, but hard to itemize for. Either substitute Liandry's for Wit's End, or take runes and masteries that give you those stats.
I deliberately chose to put up only these five champions because I feel they are as strong or stronger than a bunch of the meta picks I have played and seen played by others. I know there are many more out there, and would love to see any off meta picks and build recommendations you guys have in the comments. Remember, normals first, THEN ranked.
