Essential Game Knowledge
Hey newbies,
I made a quality guide that covers everything you need to understand how this game works. It's long and detailed, but if you're ready to grow into a competent player, then this is for you.
Hey newbies,
I made a quality guide that covers everything you need to understand how this game works. It's long and detailed, but if you're ready to grow into a competent player, then this is for you.
Well it is very long and quite detailed. I didn't read the whole thing but it looks like it will help new players a lot.
Thanks for taking a look!
I read your guide before and despite the fact I have been playing over a year, I learned something new.
Have you ever thought about adding a section on etiquette, or the Summoner's Code?
Awesome! Yes I have. I'm actually currently brainstorming a chapter on basic player psychology/etiquette/the Code. If you have any input, I'd love to hear it!
You know for a moment, I thought I didn't have anything for you. I'm not big on becoming friends with most people in public games.
However, I think it might be useful for new players to understand how the current Tribunal works. Most people I run into don't understand it. There's a Riot post floating around about how the current automated version works.
Hm, I think explaining the Tribunal and current automated system is outside the scope of my guide, because it's not something that impacts gameplay.
Perhaps. I can see how it does fall outside of the scope of your guide, because your guide is mostly about gameplay rather than about the interface of the game. The only reason I think it might be useful is because the new player experience is absolutely terrible, and they're bound to want to report someone and feel that something is being done. In theory, knowing that something will be done about someone behaving poorly in game could help someone not tilt when they otherwise would. That's the thought that keeps me playing when someone is being rude.
While you're brain storming, I do have something on player psychology. A friend of mine, who is fairly high ranked, once told me not to tell someone what to do. In the example, I was telling our Kayle to ult our carry. Friend said to not do this, because this causes a kind of tunnel vision in which Kayle would only ult our carry instead of taking advantage of another opportunity that might be better. In other words, my friend said that the player who is playing the champion knows what to do.
I hope that helps with your brain storming!
Thanks, that's pretty good!
Due to being unable to directly message you on the boards, I'll ask this here.
I've been thinking about writing a guide. Can you either give me advice yourself, or direct me to what helped you write your guide?
Sure, ask me anything.
I used this guide to learn formatting, but it actually has fantastic writing guidance you'll find helpful.
This guide is hella detailed. Thanks.
