Starting to learn Midlane need help!

Hi! Recently I have been approaching level 30 (I'm 25), my friends and I are going to form a ranked team soon and they all want me to play midlane because 9 games out of ten i usually out CS (and have most gold ;D) everyone on both teams, i have even had 193 CS at 20 minutes (my average is 160ish by then). However I really am lost as how to play mid, I normally play top lane with a mix of Rumble , Gnar , Nasus and the occasional miscellaneous champion. I'll even play ADC from time to time I do well on Lucian , Corki , and Tristana (even sometimes KogMaw ) although I am not so spectacular in the duo lanes. So I was wondering what champs I should learn that will benefit me in the long run, and even act as gateways to other champions with ease. I have heard a lot about Annie and played her for awhile, I found her a little too easy and want to find someone with a higher skill cap, I am trying Azir but have been having a hard time (Ill ask for advice on another post). Please send recommendations, I do preferred ranged champs but I do enjoy a Zed game from time to time! IP or RP is not a problem btw!

Ahri and Yasuo are good if you want to put the time into them. Yasuo is a little more risky but is really good in certain comps. You could even go with Ziggs

from a diamond player play easy champions so you learn like annie, kayle, ori, viktor, ahri , ziggs . priority to kayle and ori then annie ahri ziggs. these champs will help you learn without stunting you like harder champs like zed and yasuo will. Also if you out farm everyone you should just play late game adc's and play adc because all an adc has to do is be really good at farming in 5's

I have observed almost all champions defend and play middle lane. Rather than try to Champion specific the Lane to one specified Champion, I would maybe make sure to include tactics, strategies, and build maneuvers and skills as to knowing more the lane, watching the map, timing the wards for sneak attacks, from which side.

Comparison from top lane and bottom lane would include how your are protect on one side as there is a wall at either the top or bottom lane. So and ganks you already coming at you from right at top, and left from bottom ~ via the jungle and River routes.

I am aware of varying the strength in a line up for baseball, and can see a similar compliment from your friends in reference to strength you bring to you game, if your teammates are wanting you to main Middle Lane. They know your strengths. If you are intending to build into rank play, then I would suggest that you and your friends take some time to play the role "In Real Life" as Scouts and conduct Reconnaissance reports for yourselves. Scout the competition, might be the actual ones, but in building some level of scouting reports, you might have a better idea how you might want to build your Middle Lane skills as in knowing you might be a tune close ready in countering the Middle Lane knowing a base idea of which Champions usually are relied on in rank play in the Middle Lane. Also of course include the other lanes for your Scouting report from Spectating your science hypothesis for Game Play calculations and conclusions for all of your team to build from. Could quite possibly help to determine a Champion you might Middle Lane with either suggested or not, but you will have more Ownership of the Middle Lane when trying to learn all of the strengths and weaknesses.

I mention this, because varied from top and bottom lanes, the enemy has 6 inlets and outlets to gank you in the very heart middle of Middle Lane, not to mention the turret zones of attacks. But, the middle lane is vulnerable with ANY champion. I am sure there were games with the best Ahri Ziggs and Yasuo . However, if you are far from in tune with Middle Lane Responsibility, Ownership, Control, and Alert Awareness of you Gank areas around you, no matter how strong you can Champion a Champion, you could end up with a Defeat.

Good Luck! This is only a suggestion! More important have fun!!! Game On! From: FuryofThornsRedo

I recommend Viktor, Yasuo and TwistedFate.

Viktor scales amazingly into late game and you can get a ton of CS with his augment laser. He's a bursty champion that can easily catch up when behind. His laser can easily clear waves while your turret is being sieged, and his W is amazing for zoning, especially in team fights. Again, its all about the communication (assuming you're mainly going to play ranked teams). You can W and block out an enemy who mispositioned and tell your team to engage on the rest, etc.

Because your doing ranked team, I also recommend TF. TF is a very good champion when playing ranked team and solo Q (if you have somewhat good communication when doing your ult). Your gold card makes it easy for your jungler to come gank you, your ult gives you map control for the team (top lane's TP with TF's ult is really nice to have in a team comp).

Yasuo is a nice champion in when in certain comps. If your friends have wukong, sion, malphite, etc you can easily change the tide of the teamfight. When my friend and I duo q in normals (I was wukong top he was yasuo mid) regardless if we win lane or not, we can communicate to each other to come to the other lane and help out via Wusuo ult, etc. Its a near perfect combination. During teamfights (recommend the Wukong to have flash and teleport) the wusuo combo is an amazing engager. Paired with Nami support, its an amazing comp to have. With communication you can win many fights as Wusuo (or just yasuo + any other knock up champion that your friend likes to play, but wukong is the best champion to pair yasuo up with)

I would start with simple champs than progress to more complex ones, just like any other lane. Annie or Talon are both great picks and very strong currently. Azir, Zed, and Yasuo are all fun and very strong as well, but the skill required to use them well would be disproportionatly large to how much time you would spend learning them, so I would hold off on them until you can win lane 90% of the time with more simple champs.

Keep in mind that your role as a mid laner is to roam and help out other lanes, so you should not only be proficient using your champ in mid but also setting up effective ganks as well.

Ahri really good, charm for picks and cc, 3 dashes for safety, safe lane, easy cs, good aa animation. high burst. Deletes carries late game and she's currently getting buffed on pbe.

learn moakai mid adjust your runes to defend against your lane oppenant usually maxing mr runes to 75 scaling and none of them can usually touch you while you just farm qe tank like you would gnar. until you get use to the lane comp and can work other characters into your style play. Swain would be a good one with common rumble build.

All you have to do is main Diana then proceed to crush everything (except maybe Mordekaiser ).

try Talon pick you W first max it first but always try to make his Q have decent points into it max E last and ult whenever you can.you start off with item 2041 1 item 2003 and 2 item 2004 if you have an opponet that you know cant poke you too hard like annother melee if its a range poke champion get 2 health pots and one mana pot. for wave clear get item 3074 then build item 3142 after those two buy item 3117 then build item 3071 and item 3035 if the other team has a lot of ap and you think they will burst you get item 3156 then get item 3031.farm for most of early game if the lane opponent pokes too much try ganking lanes that have openings. you should be able to beat a lot of other champions.becareful of Diana and maybe Mordekaiser Lissandra .you should have a good chance at beating most mages like Brand Syndra TwistedFate.

It really isn't about the champion you play, everyone here is going to tell you their cute little wood 7 main. No matter what champion you play, if you are good with them, it will always be superior to someone who is horrible, but playing an " OP " champion.

Understand that Mid lane is the center of the map, everything will happen around you. Therefore, you need to have a very good sense of map awareness. As mid, you have arguably the highest capability to effect top and bot besides the jungler. This is also true of the enemy mid, so always make sure you know where your enemy mid laner is and ping mia religiously.

Also, Don't quote me on this, but I do believe that because the lane is alot shorter minions reach your lane faster than they reach top and bot. Therefore, especially since it sounds like you are good at csing, you will almost always be ahead of the rest of your team in XP. This is exactly why mages and other high skill reliant damage champions are put mid, is they can level up their abilities much faster than the rest of the team, and to great avail.

Lastly, mid is the gateway to the rest of the map. It has the shortest distance between inhibitors, meaning that it will not take a lot to get there if there is not a serious effort made to defend it. Understand that unlike getting bot or top tower, tier 1 mid tower opens up the rest of the enemy jungle. Keep this in mind to try and bottleneck enemy's and try to predict movements.

Good luck!
