Breaking Out of Silver/Bronze

So concluding last season, like many seasons prior I haven't cared about ranked games. This year I decided to start with a bang. I played my ten promo games and managed to get bronze 1. I fought vigorously, and finally achieved silver 1. I'm going to share how I broke out of the bronze/silver hell.

Why you're in silver (According to Pros and other HIGH elo people):

  • You have a basic understanding of all mechanics, but can't quite use them.
  • You have a main-able champion and are proficient at them.
  • You often times complain HEAVILY that something is overpowered. (Doesn't Change Much in Platinum)
  • You often times argue with other players.
  • You feel as though you're better than everyone else.
  • You do not reflect on your mistakes enough and only on your positives.

Heres How You Fix it:

  • MINIMAPS ARE HUGE! Keep an eye on it and ward up! (This benefits everyone! You can see when other lanes are getting ganked and give them a general idea someone is coming.)
  • DUO PARTNERS are good tools riot has allowed us to use. Find a friend, maybe play a few normals to learn their strengths and play on! (This is especially useful if you are a Marksman and Support duo!
  • LEARN A MAIN CHAMPION. This is more beneficial than you think. Spend some time playing a custom game, learn the champion's auto attacks and spell ranges. It REALLY helps! (I did this with Viktor and starting crushing.)
  • DON'T FIGHT WITH OTHER PLAYERS. If someone starts an argument or starts raging, simply mute them. Keep your comments to yourself as well. One comment can put an entire team on tilt. (Cough. Not to mention season rewards can be stripped for toxic behavior. Cough)
  • Don't be afraid to try out other champions in normals! This can be beneficial to you and learning their attack ranges and spells.
  • MOST IMPORTANTLY: REFLECT ON YOUR OWN MISTAKES! I did this when I was in bronze and aspired to grow to platinum. It works! (Don't say them in the chat like "OOPS I BLEW FLASH!" Think to yourself as you make a mistake. "Oh man I should have used my q there!"

It took me 3 straight years of playing, I broke that curse of silver and got myself into platinum. (I'm now aiming for diamond!)

Good Luck Summoners! (If anyone needs any additional comments or have a scenario, I'm more than willing to answer them in the comments!)

How i got out of bronze? I played 2 seasons of league without playing ranked, with the exception being season 3 where i placed silver 5 then didn't play any games afterwards. I in season 4 i thought "hey i want a victorious skin" and achieved gold 5 after placing in bronze 1. In season 5 i had no intention of climbing higher than gold again, but got board playing league and decided to go into ranked for a challange, i'm currently plat 3, and still rarely play ranked. So i guess what i'm saying is, the biggest factor to getting better at league is PLAYING THE DAMN GAME.

This is actually a great post. I wish more people took this seriously. You have inspired me to do a little more introspection. I recognize my own mistakes and I will defend my decisions. Trying to fix the personality of the complaining team mate, but I should take your advice of muting more immediately. Let's see where this takes me.
