Tanky or mage-y supports?

I've been a support main from day one and, at this point, own all the meta supports (as well as non-meta coughSyndracough. I would say I'm fairly proficient with all of them to a certain extent but I wanna find my niche. I know its good to have a balance and to have options to choose from to match certain scenarios but as a whole I find myself drawn to one of the two archetypes of supports (Tanks and Mages). I've hit a mid-season crisis and don't know which to choose. Any advice on which is better in general?

Honestly, whichever you are more comfortable playing.

I tend to play tanky supports pretty much exclusively since I don't really do that well on utility or mage supports. Personally, my main issue is that I'm not really used to lacking both durability and damage on a champion and it doesn't really suit my playstyle. I can do well on them occasionally, but I find that I am more reliable using a tank support than a squishy one.

tanks are better at the moment like brraum and leona or even a naught

To add to the tanky supports Blitz, Maokai, Thresh, Alistar and I've even done Voli support.

If you think your team is tanky enough, I would pick a utility mage. Janna, Sonna, Soraka, I've even seen Oriana do well.

For the most part you are forced to play tank so you can stay alive long enough to peel and soak up damage for the team.

Defensive supports. It does not matter how fed an ADC is if they are dead.
