Poll! Best Jungle Carries for Solo Queue

Hi forums, I'm Gold I-II and I've learned that my best role, Fizz mid, is taken quite a lot, also, if bot feeds heavily, it may even be impossible to carry the game, same with top heavily feeding a tanky bruiser such as Garen/Irelia/Jax etc.

I've started out practicing jungle in S3 with AP Eve, I ended up 7-0 before season ended...Then she got nerfed to the ground burst damage-wise so I'm looking for alternatives that can solidly carry almost any game from the Jungle, since you can help ALL LANES so that hopefully no lane will massively feed.

So, who in your opinion can carry the hardest when one of the lanes feeds, which Jungler can effectively Save a game?.

Common characteristics for these game-changing carries:

  1. Tanky - Since you can turn the game around, you need to build tanky-ish so people won't focus you because if killed, they will simply own your team, therefore you need to scare them away psychologically with HP items such as Randuin's Omen/Banshee's Veil.
  2. DPS - You can't be just a tank, I played Sejuani for a while and she is fun and an effective tank but she simply does not do enough damage most games to be able to turn around or carry a game. For example: Kha'Zix uses his Q to nuke, Amumu has good AoE DPS and Nocturne can deal sustained damage and stay in the battle with his inmense attack speed. In comparison, Zac, Nunu or Sejuani do not deal enough damage with their spells/scaling to fill the role I'm looking for.
  3. Mobility or CC - You need a combination of both in order to succeed, for those times when you need to gap close, escape or shut down an enemy lane so that your ally get kills.
  4. Not be too vulnerable to Counter Ganks/Jungling - There are some junglers that just don't seem to survive in the current meta because a proper Lee Sin will just destroy them in the jungle and remove them from the game/set them back immensely. So guys, who's the master of carries?

Ok, I voted for someone that I knew wouldn't be popular. Not for that reason, but because he's secretly one of the strongest champs out there right now. Nautilus This guy. His one flaw is being a little bit vulnerable to counterjungling early. Even so, the amount of CC and damage he dishes out even early game makes it risky for someone to invade- if he catches you, his team can collapse quite easily. His teamfights are awesome, he can 1v1 much better than you'd think, he's highly tanky, great damage, not bad mobility and crazy cc. Beware, it will take a decent amount of practice to become fully effective as him.

I feel that Shaco can also be an effective solo queue champion. I was watching Sky the other night and he even said "Shaco is one of the most effective solo queue champions because people hate warding." Shaco has a high dps, can have two of himself and not only that, he can go invisible for easy ganks, and backdoors if necessary.Shaco

You know you're asking for conflicting traits, right...? Now having said that, back when she first came out, Diana.... Oh my god, the old Diana with a Wriggle's Lantern was like a man on horseback with a Winchester rifle in the old West. Can't catch her. Can't dual her. Can't run away from her.

I guess Lee Sin too, but he couldn't 1v3 like Diana could.

WW Doesn't do enough damage due to scaling issues and his ult can be just QQS'ed away, Same with Skarner.

Need to add sion now. he is just a super tank.

Wukong. (1) Usually gets typical bruiser items (banshees/randuins) (2)... but scales very well with AD. Wu's E-AA-Q combo can seriously chunk most champs. I like Ravenous Hydra on Wukong-- it's a bit expensive, but once you get it your cleartimes are practically instant and you can splitpush/farm lanes faster than almost any champion in the game. (3) His mobility is decent with E, and (4) W is usually sufficient to juke anyone who might try and counterjungle. Also, that ult.

Just watch out for Lee Sins.

Master Yi isn't an option? Weird, I could have sworn his carry potential is way higher than, say, Aatrox's, or Nautilus's.

So here's the distinction I think you should make: solo carry jungler versus team carry jungler.

Solo carry junglers are the damage dealers who do 1 v 1s and gain the greatest benefits from being fed themselves. They're the ones who don't mind farming a lot, or split pushing. These will be melee DPS champions, typically, the ones who take objectives quickly, can move around fast, and stand well on their own.

Team carry junglers, conversely, are the tankier/support junglers (usually bruisers like Jarvan go here too) that gank well and provide safety for the rest of the team. They benefit from their teammates getting fed, and often bring a lot of crowd control to a fight. Assassins also tend to fall in here right now because of the meta: junglers don't get fed enough to carry as assassins, typically, so they get to be a special carry-seeking class in teamfights.

The best solo carries currently, in my opinion, are Master Yi, Warwick, Udyr, and Nocturne. The best team carry currently, in my opinion, is Rammus, with champions like Maokai, Kha'zix, Wukong, Vi, Amumu, and Fiddle not far behind. I also think Sion has huge potential, but I'm reserving opinions on him for a while.

Edit**: I don't think Lee Sin is particularly strong right now unless your team is very coordinated. He CAN be extremely lethal, but solo queue Lee is a little underwhelming sometimes.

I'd say it's a toss-up... Udyr, Lee Sin, Amumu and Kha'Zix are good in general, where as Warwick, Vi and the full tanks with more focused CC are better in specific comps or against specific comps.

Overall though... Lee Sin and Udyr would be my top choices... Udyr for his dive, peel, split-push and dueling potential. He is just too versatile to overlook.

Fiddlesticks and khazix are probably the best carry junglers, Rammus and pantheon are great and easy to learn for early game dominance (otherwise there is shaco too but he is very hard to play). Amumu is like a more carry oriented version of Rammus or tankier version of fiddlesticks whichever you prefer to see him, so he's viable if you want to carry as a tank. Rammus is a very powerful tank who can win a game with his damage/cc/tankiness, but he doesn't get to this point as easy as amumu for tanks. Pantheon doesn't transition well into mid and late but is a lot better than lee sin at later portions of the game, so I would recommend him if you wanted to play lee sin unless they have a lot of stealth champs or you are LCS material on lee sin.

If you feel lanes just feed and you don't know how to fix their problems, champs that can take objectives are your best bet, so overall I would recommend fiddlesticks. Great champ at dominating teamfights, can fend off most jungle invaders, takes dragon easy, etc. Khazix is in a similar boat, with less teamfight dominance yet better at keeping up momentum thanks to his low cooldowns and high mobility with resets.

Currently I think kha'zix is one of the most versatile assassin style junglers in the game. He has great gank potential with his evolved leap. He has great poke and seige potential with his evolved w, and great single target burst with his evolved q. That being said, I would pretty much always evolve E->W->Q in yolo queue. This gives him a solid power curve, and makes him extremely mobile on the battlefield. If I weren't going to play kha'zix I would learn the korean style or rengar, or lee sin probably. Play maker jungles feel the best to me for yolo queue.

Xin Zhao. -FF to sheen gives him a huge power spike especially after a few points into Q. HIs ganks at early-mid game can burst carries VERY hard before they finish significant items. -Has built in passive sustain -Ult makes him tankier + AOE peel if needed -Strong split push & tower smashing power if needed -Scary level 3 ganks can get lanes out of control fast -Not reliant on CDs/skillshots that make or break combos like Khazix/Elise due to fast + empowered AAs

While you already dismissed WW, I suggest you take another look. -with FF + wits end he can lifesteal sustain tank very well from huge attack speed + on hit effects -both the above starting items are cheap (well below 3k) and can be finished before 20 min letting you tank up from mid game on with MR already acquired from wits end -empowers your team with vision on low units; after gank even if you forced a B you can Hunters Call (attack speed for all!) and burn towers very fast -FF, wits, boots, randiun, visage, botrk gives you lots of tankiness, damage and team buffs -other WW builds (glass cannon AP Q sustain spam, AD assassin, pure tank...) but this gives you everything -totally shuts down a carry in team fights -not CD reliant. Saving your R provides huge zoning when threatening teamfights but not needed to 1v1 most other champs

Youre looking for champs with natural tankiness & sustain with high AA damage so they arent useless when on CD.

Wow the op is oviously a numbskull, where is galio? Flash ult = won teamfight cmon bimbos get it together

MasticatingGrill10/17/2014, 8:08:07 PM1 votes

Have seen a few very tanky high-bursting AP Cho'Gath again recently.

It was super funny in one match because Rage boots and Rylais, he stacked speed buff with slow debuff and just popped Q to close if needed.

Also for the first time in what seems like forever I saw a Cho using Youmuu's wtf. He had a Gunblade too and Hydra's. But he was way over-farmed beyond the other team at that point so it's more he felt like he could do it.

Overall for a real jg carry I too am confused. I strongly disagree with Kha because his Q falls through the floor in team fights. There is a reason that Aatrox is Baadtrox, no one plays him jungle and even NO ONE voted him in the poll.

I will laugh so hard if by next summer people are whining about Azir jg, but until then I am laughing when I see an AP Panth...I mean what.

Warwick? He carries solo queue quite well as far as I've seen. Either that or Master Pee, but WW seems better most of the time. However, most of my jungling is played as Skarner, who can really be frightening if he gets ahead.

CrispCrustacean10/14/2014, 2:34:18 AM1 votes

Amumu Is a great champion in "yoloqueue" because his CC is very hard and his AOE ult is almost impossible to avoid. Also unlike others it is easy to telegraph to your team that you are going to go all-in.(Also as it pertains to his ulti, it is easy to pick off a carry when caught)

P.S. Nautilus Is also a scary jungle tank that can make easy plays, but his ulti is harder to catch many people in, and requires a little more practice thanAmumu(also I wouldn't recommend Nautilus for soloqueue)
