So I'm still bad

So yeah. I'm still bad at this game. How do I know? I'm still in Gold 5. Maybe it's my champion picks. Maybe it's how I play. Maybe it's because I lack the leadership necessary to guide a team to victory. I picked Quinn into a Riven and did rather well, pretty much stomping her in lane. Had Sion in the Jungle, Vayne and Leona Botlane, and an Ekko mid. Perfectly fine group of players I thought. I saw Leona and Vayne feeding botlane, Ekko feeding mid and our jungler just kinda... did nothing helpful.

They say that if you're good enough as a player, you'll climb. I'd lean more towards it's a mix of luck and skill. You have to be lucky enough that several factors that you can't control work in your favor (Who's on your team and how skilled they are compared to the enemy) and you have to be skilled enough so that the factors you can control are under lock and key (Wards, mechanics, map awareness, farm). You can be really good at the game or at your champion, if you're truly skilled then both. However, these things seem small in the way of the rest of your team. That's 4 other people that aren't you doing things that you can't control. Yeah, you can carry a game, but not just by yourself. You can be this unstoppable badass, but you'll still need those other 4 people to work with you or you're not carrying jack and all. You can be 9/0/14 on Irelia and absolutely wreck in teamfights, but if you're 1v5, odds are you're going to lose that one. Good and Bad teammates can determine the overall outcome of a game. If you're doing alright in lane, but by no means are you stomping. I don't care who you are, you're going to die to a fed carry champ. If you're the jungler and you do everything in your jungley powers to force feed a champ you KNOW can carry and do so successfully but they're piss poor with the champion and owe their kills to your intervention, odds are those kills probably would have looked better on you. There are things you can't control in this game which can cause you to lose. There ARE unwinnable games. They come either from you or forces you have no ability to correct (D/c's, trolls, ragequits, excessively bad players, drunk players, etc.). So what can a man do? Get better at the game, I guess. That's all you really can do.
