Silver to Gold?

Hi, I play primarily support and fill when needed in other lanes. Sometimes I'll win 10 games in a row and sometimes I'll lose a bunch. Basically I don't know why. What do I need to do to keep up those 10 game win streaks and work my way to gold?

I main Leona, she seems to work well in Silver league, and then Lux in mid because I find her fairly safe. I usually pull my builds and try to learn from probuilds.net. With that said, what should I be working on to better myself towards that shiny Gold border? Of course I have my bad games, and I know I need to die less and position better, but people tell me that even when I do great in lane etc, I have poor mechanics. They then decline to define what "mechanics" are?

I can only assume if it's obvious thay I have poor mechanics even when I felt I played well, that must be my issue. I ward the map defensively and offensively as best I can. I've watched a lot of videos on how to ward and where and when, but still I have poor mechanics. So what are they talking about when they say I have poor mechanics? If they're saying it when I'm 3-1-15 kda, then I don't think it's how I play the champion in that regard, but rather something else.

I'd like to better myself, and learn what I can. Anyone have some tips and insight as to what these mechanics are that I need to make the jump from silver to gold? Even when I play mid I can go some amazing kda, but can't always close the game out. However, I see others on streams with similar kda and they always ensure the win (even with afk players). What is the difference here? When myself and some other player can do well in a similar fashion at times, but I can't win yet they always can?

I'm not saying I'm amazing or always do well, I dont. But I feel that in the games I do, I should be able to close out the game. Perhaps as well, the reason I don't always do well and my play is so inconsistent is because of my poor mechanics? Any help on the matter? Thanks.

Edit: Some basic things I've learned so far: picking Champs and counters, like sustain vs poke, all in vs disengage, etc. Other things in mid like which Champs counter others and why. Building according to how the game is playing out, MR, Armor, etc. Ummmm.... just basically how to play vs various Champs with whoever I pick. Where to ward and when, clearing their wards, etc. Positioning to not die as ap casters, engaging at opportune times with leo (though I'm obviously not amazing), just basics of playing the lane and staying alive and what not. Oh, and peeling for the most fed person. After that, basically I know I want towers then drag then barron when it's safe.

This is something that worked for me....

Check out statistics from here - http://www.leagueofgraphs.com/champions/stats/support/diamond/by-winrate

  1. see the lane that you want to play
  2. check out what people at different elo brackets are playing and what are the win rates with them
  3. see what items they buy and what is the success rate when they use said items

If support janna has a consistantly higher win rate across high elos compared to someone like lulu, maybe there is something to it. Why not try out what they are doing, see if it is making a difference to the way you play and how it works in a team composition. Maybe this will help you, but it definitely helped me

EDIT: if for instance there is a particular item purchase order that is showing a high win rate, maybe you should try it that way.

EDIT2: what helps is setting objectives and trying to achieve them. For instance, as an ap caster, tell yourself you will have 5 or less deaths per game. Tell yourself that in team fights you will be near the adc and peel for them when they are trying to be bursted down by the opponent. Tell yourself that you will try to get 150 cs in 20 mins. Upgrade your trinkets and ward where ever you are farming to avoid ganks, etc...

Improving mechanics for the most part just takes practice. I'd also recommend watching some unswlolsoc videos that teach positioning and ways to land your skillshots more easily.

Good luck! :)

mechanics, decision making, priorities, zoning, pressure, vision rate. objectives etc....imo in silver Leona is not that great as people think, too dependent on adc follow ups or other team mates, mean while disengaging supports with aa usualy have their own kit to enage or disengage as well zoning pressure meaning less dependent. having 3-1-15 is a good number it could either mean u did a lot for ur team or it could mean u did absolutely nothing but just to be there to finish the kill or sat there pressurelss. I had vayne played on our team who had 30 kills, and he carry no matter who his support is, but the support who was supporting him thought she did alto of the work when she really didn't do anything that of a support should do timing on skills, proper vision, zoning, baiting etc.
