I've never hated a meta more than this one.

I'm not here to make a constructive post, I'm just here to make a short rant.

The scuttle changes feel awful, and this entire meta feels awful. I know Riot is all about changing the game and keeping it "fresh", but fuck man. These changes just made the game feel terrible. I've been playing for years and each meta was fine. There were always changes, but none so sweeping and polarizing as these recent ones (and I'm not talking about the keystones). The jungle changes that have happened repeatedly have never been this bad (in fact I loved the smite buffs per camp that used to be a thing). However, it feels like shit playing in this current jungle if you're not picking someone who excels at early duels. Hell maybe its just me, but it feels as though if I don't get that scuttle because the other jungle showed up, or even worse lose the fight at scuttle, you're just fucked. You aren't coming back into the game, you'll be levels behind and just get utterly decimated by any meta jungle.

Now I know I have a lot at this game I could be better at. I get that, I know I need to get better. But, point being, it just feels like shit playing this game now (at least in the jungle, I'm sure many bot lane players feel similar). If you wanted to nerf the jungle fine, but don't take away my ability to circumvent those early game fighters. Give me a fucking chance to just play the game in the jungle, how it was able to be played for so many years. At the moment it feels like the climax of my games are when I walk into the river hoping I picked the scuttle he isn't go to show up at.

TLDR: I fucking hate this meta Riot created. I feel that it is the shittiest meta in all my years playing this game.

Here's the problem with the meta

  1. there are 10 champions in the game that are blatantly better than every other pick

  2. towers are worthless so games end at 20 mins max, this is fucking trash as a lot of champions in the game rely on scaling, which they can't do anymore

  3. meddler and ghostcrawler refuse to address either of these issues

For me, I hate laning against assassins mid, and guess which class has the highest pickrate mid right now? Whatever. I'll just play other roles until the meta shifts away from them. Look- it's not that I don't know how to lane against them, I do. It's just that it is the most stressful experience to lane against. Finding the balance to where you're passive enough that you don't die, aggressive enough that aren't healthy enough to dive you, and smart enough that they don't get mid priority and roam and get fed off of your team is such a chore. "Just buy zhonya's/banshee's"- Look, the issue isn't during the mid game. I could give a rats ass about warding up and playing safe against assassins. It's before that, when I HAVE TO BUY LOST CHAPTER FIRST, THEN GET MY DEFENSIVE ITEM(If I skip lost chapter, the enemy now gets lane priority for free as I cannot match their shove. They now get to roam for free), when they chunk me for 60% of my health with one electrocute combo(Of course I learned my lesson after the first few times I got bursted down, but being resigned to zone yourself from them and cs because their combo is up is really lame). I'd take a xerath dodgeball lane in his prime over this every day of the week.

I main ADC and I can tell you at least how bronze bot is.

  • Mage/assassin "support", who takes offense/non-support runes.
  • Support is almost never a tank.
  • Support will usually take the support item, but build damage after that.
  • Everyone in-lane is so fixated on trying to get first blood you can't farm even remotely effectively. Unless your support manages to out-zone them.
  • Jungler never comes bot. Allegedly jungler "meta" is to camp/feed top, and they will carry.
  • If enemy jungler is smart, they will camp bot knowing there will be no contest.

At this rate, you either win your lane, hold steady, lose your lane and it barely matters. If you get camped then you play under tower until you get dove and die. If you win the game and do your job and do good damage usually the top/jungle assassin blows your damage out of the water and they get all the honors/credits for having the best KDA. If you are losing then you are blamed for it for "not carrying", despite the fact EVERYONE built damage.

Whatever the hell this meta is is awful. Everyone got more damage, and they nerfed the Marksmen damage to the point even when you participate practically everyone on the team out-damages you anyway.

Also I noticed the general thought is, "I play what I like to play, and we win. And if we lose it is someone else's fault". They pick champions they like without any regard for team comp so most games are completely curb-stomps where whoever has the most mobile/CC generally wins. And it will always be someone else's fault.

my hate towards the game grew stronger the more time passed after Yasuo release sounds ridicolous but its true this champ partially ruined this game for me

Crappy meta, Yes. Worst meta? i beg to differ. At the very least item 3504 meta was far worse.

I dunno, bot lane is pretty interesting and a fresh breath of air after a stagnant mandatory ADC meta for several years save for a few niche picks.

Many of us (I can't speak for everyone, though) do hope that Riot promotes some marksman being able to solo lane and to knock down some of the more dominant niche picks (looking at you, Assrelia) a peg instead of just going back.

If you ever adjust a meta and completely eliminate a role in the game that an entire group of pro players have been dedicated to for their entire pro careers... I seriously question if you created the meta on purpose.

I don't think this meta was on purpose, I think its just a bunch of fucking up. I think riot is pretending it was on purpose.

Which makes sense when things are getting nerfed/buffed back and forth. Such as adcs. Champion rollbacks. Reworks that do not actually make a champion viable.

This is how it likely went down:

The goal was to shorten the game. They added too much dmg and didn't compensate for this in any other areas of the game. Games became incredibly snowbally, early game champs incredibly powerful, towers paper, adcs pointless. Games shorter.

This may not be entirely correct, but it seems pretty cut and dry that we had a 'goal', and reached that goal without any rational though regarding how it would effect the game as a whole.

There are also multiple layers of changes taking effect at once. That seemed to have been overlooked in how they relate to one another. For instance adcs were gutted by scaling/game length, however then crit was gutted as well... double whammy. Lack of foresight/planning/experience.

I think another issue here is respect of structure. League has been so successful because there is a proper way to play that makes the most sense. Beyond even meta, as far as champions, it was roles. Everyone from bronze to challenger plays the game in an expected way because at high level it is the most effective. Now that games are shorter, quite a few champions and some player roles were virtually eliminated.

I do like the variety. Games are kinda more exciting to watch, but it feels like watching semi-low elo solo q. I don't feel like I'm watching pros. Instead of watching next level chess I feel like I'm watching tic tac toe- one mistake and the game is pretty much over unless someone does something retarded. Meh.

Pretty much agree... It feels like they need to make LoL 2, roll this back a bit and call it good lol. Because this is not the LoL I used to play for sure anyways.

The good news is they are already tweaking jungle exp. It'll never be the same as the past, but it also won't be this way long.

Sexy Fortune6/29/2018, 2:15:31 PM3 votes

I agree on this, and then there is the leveling while jungling. You get so much fewer xp. If you dont gank and get a kill early, but the other jungler does, you have to keep avoiding him or otherwise he will kill you aswell.

Laceration6/30/2018, 12:18:02 AM2 votes

Earlygame champions need to get toned down so lategame champs have a decent chance to get to lategmae

Dabluechimp6/30/2018, 3:21:51 AM2 votes

screw the meta can we talk about how if you're not a Crit ADC you might as well not even connect? (just my two cents)

SweedishGunner6/29/2018, 10:38:00 AM2 votes

I'd rather take dynamic queue with the old game balance over this shit.

Darkone70016/30/2018, 3:16:39 PM1 votes

Tanks are worthless right now and they nerfed my favorite champion ORNN AGAIN he was at a 47% winrate and they nerf his biggest lanning tool. wtf hes sitting at a 44% winrate in some stat sites.

I hate it when Kindred's scuttler mark appears on the scuttler than I'm NOT attacking early game.

Give wu mid a try. It does wonders atm.

You aren't coming back into the game, you'll be levels behind and just get utterly decimated by any meta jungle.

It is pretty crazy how quickly the difference between junglers grows so early. Like oftentimes losing a scuttle fight or such means you will still be level 4 while he is level 6 which is just like yep

I've been playing for years and each meta was fine.

Yeah I can't remember any meta complaints before now
