Rengar as a Tank

I recently had a ranked match where I played tank Rengar. I've asked the boards before about Rengar being played as a tank, and I've got the expected response. However, I've seen it done well and I wanted to try it for myself.

I think the reason why tank Rengar worked here is that they didn't have any single target / burst magic damage, and they also had three hyper carries who were all auto attack reliant. Subsequently, this allowed me to dive with almost a zero chance of dying. Do you guys think there are any other instances that tank Rengar would work?

Pretty sure dandy played tank rengar at worlds last year so, yea, pretty sure it can work.

I watched that game!

It's not exactly full tank Rengar, but it's the same principle. The reason why people went full tank Rengar in s4, especially in the jungle, is because Feral Flare was able to supply so much sustain and damage (especially to objectives). I do the same thing in the jungle with Devourer, and I have a good amount of success.

It's also extremely meta to play bruiser/tank Rengar in the Korean meta.

I love Rengar's ability to just delete a squishy but if I see more than one tank on the other team I'm going to pick someone else. I just don't think a slow/root are enough to justify picking him over an actual tank with a fight changing ult or something with more of an impact.

It's arguable about what's best in the game, but that's something I consider as well. I usually only do that when I believe I will deal more damage by being alive rather than by suicide bursting someone. I also do this if my team lacks the capability to create and find picks, especially if I believe that we need it.

No i dont believe in tank rengar. Rengar doesnt have very good damage without having any damage and his cc is very limited so hes really not much of a threat. Im an adc main and a fed damage rengar is one of my fears :/. But a tank rengar i wouldnt be afraid of. Id just ignore him cause his dmg is low and his cc is not good. A comment on what celosar said, just cause something was done a year ago doesnt mean its still good. Tank kha used to be very popular. But its not anymore. Champions change. Things do not stay the same. Ez used to be a major threat now he just sucks. Shyv used to be able to build pure tank and do the damage of an adc and 1v4. Thats not the case anymore. Things change. You gotta realise that

Even though this game is a loss, I'm still going to showcase it. I had just Warrior for most of that game, and I only picked up the Last Whisper close to our end. I still had on par damage with our top laner and ADC. I solo'd the ADC several times, even when she had her GA up.

Tank Rengar still sees play, but it's not in NA. In the Korean meta, he's built as either a bruiser or full tank. I could link you several games that I watched just last night that has pro players building bruiser or tank Rengar.

Tank Rengar is strong he is able to stay alive for quite some time a free heal and people think he deals tons of damage so they focus him and ignore the real damage threats.

tanky rengar with like sunfire randuins youmus (vs ad) is probably unbeatable in lane, even tho his impact on the game is also lowered, but there is like no way to outtrade him.
