is nocturne op top lane???

I picked sion top as the enemy team picked malphite and nocturne I thought mal is top but it was nocturne and he pretty much derstroyed me in lane. we were both pretty much same in cs but his damage was too much as his one hit and and his black thingy and the fear were op against my ability somehow I just tried to play passive. didn't got a gank from jg and he just dominated the lane!!!! all I wanna know is that is nocturne a good counter against tanks or how can I defeat noct next time I meet him in lane??

Nocturne as a top laner is strong against spell reliant champs because of his spell shield. This can allow him to block important spells in a combo such as a stun or slow. Against Sion he can spell shield Sion's stun/ult because of how telegraphed they are, allowing Nocturne to chase Sion out of lane. Nocturne is bad against auto-attack reliant champs that outscale him such as Tryndamere, Irelia, or Jax due to having lower dps and his spell shield isn't very effective in such cases. Nocturne's passive makes it hard for him to freeze a lane, so if you're afraid to farm against him, just wait it out a bit until he shoves the lane back to you. I've played Nocturne top plenty of times these past few months. The easiest champs to play against are champs like Renekton, Sion, and Riven assuming you don't go full assassin.

lol it's bronze5 almost anything works.

Nocturne is not good top, but he is suprisingly effective mid.

Dodge the black thingy... if it's stuck to you, don't engage as he'll have an AS steroid. I've never even considered Noc top as he's squishy... will have to try it out.

interesting. i played noc top lane way way back when i first started league and wasnt even level10 but i stopped after a while. I would tell you from experience that no hes not a top laner although i could be wrong with the way items are changing.

he has decent harass but his mana consumption is just too great that he'd be backing too often. he has no kill move either since hes almost entirely aa based and designed to jump on low health targets running away. too many champions would counter him up there. liss, cho, olaf, and i'd imagine wukong and theres always the malzahar top lane too.

If you're getting 1 shotted by a nocturne as Sion, you're not building properly. Rush armor against this guy. Build frozen heart or randuin's omen. If you need to, build ninja tabis for the reduced autoattack dmg. Kite noc with your E and W. You have the tools to do well in this lane.

A well place spell shield would be good, You'ed be able to waveclear and laugh it off though. (If built optimally)

You needed frozen heart. This lane should've been freely for sion.

Remember to note that nocturne's passive gives him sustain, and he gains extra damage while on his trail, which you would leave behind. He has very large attack speed due his his w's passive, and his fear lets him deal alot of damage while you are vulnerable. He also has a spellshield. To play passively, try just to poke him down early because his sustain is minimal.

Noct top was a thing 2 seasons ago i still think its manageable in some setups (exactly against champs like Sion) but mobility meta pretty much ruined him.

-Nocturne is a natural lane pusher due to passive+q -no escape -has to AA a lot to deal damage -sustain pushes the wave --> vulnerable to ganks

Anyone with BoRK and some life steal will counter a tank in a 1v1 situation. He's also hard to gank because of his fear and ult. But if he's fighting a Morgana, Lissandra, or anyone else with lockdown he's gonna have a bad time.
