So... Sightstone

As a support, part of your job is to control vision. While that is a team effort, you still do majority of the warding and it is part of your job, imo, there isn't an exception, even if you are playing a silly bot lane with a friend you should get a sight stone. It's better than buying the wards separate as a support too because it's more gold efficient. Plus you need your red trinket to sweep dragon, if nothing else.
If they don't have 2 wards placed and an upgrade trinket in their inventory. They are toxic scrubs. So dont worry for them.

does it matter, well no, not really... but.... you cant ward the same, not while also using your gold for other items, maybe not even using your gold only for wards
you cant ward as efficiently without buying sightstone... the cost blows up fast, and these costs get greater the longer the game goes, the more wards your enemy destroys

Of course it does! That's a really silly statement; a Sightstone is incontrovertibly better than sight wards. Whether from gold cost to utility to performance, a Sightstone is superior in all aspects to it's alternatives.
If all the games lasted 20 minutes, then it would probably not be worth it. But since you do not have 20/20 vision of the future (Ba dum ts), then I would buy it always.
If you are support, always get a sightstone. People think that with the upgraded trinkets, that its an obsolete item. Its not; upgraded trinkets are just Riot's way of hopefully getting your other teammates to pitch in. They are not as effective as a sightstone; at any given moment you probably only have 1 charge if you are using it decently, even as a laner. Trying to consistently keep key areas warded with just the upgraded trinket as a support is going to be hard, and this leaves you without a sweeper, which is very important when you are having vision battles vs. your typical "only one person wards" solo Q games.
And again, when dragon starts to come up, and you need 3 wards to get vision around dragon, and you need to sweep what little vision someone on the enemy team actually put down, you are going to be glad you have someone with a sightstone who can instantly put down a quick 3 wards, or more if they get swept, compared to that guy with a single charge on his trinket.
Its just too effective of an item to pass up if you are on support. I mean, we can argue the upgrade, to ruby, being made better since I know the feeling of it getting super late-game and you have what feels like a slot inefficient item(arguable; as the game gets longer, wards matter even more; I wish there was a way to get pinks with a full build without giving up a trinket), so maybe ruby could have some diff. upgrades ala jungle items/support items/etc.
Not to mention, lvl 9 isn't that fast, especially if you are in the duo lane where more than likely you are going to be the lowest xp person on the team. You are going to need some decent wards before lvl 9 on support. The first trinket isnt going to cut it, and buying green wards is just inefficient.
Should this be bought even before movement speed as a support?
I'm still learning support, but I really like it.
Personally I try to get a sighstone on my second recall unless were doing very good, Usually on my first back ill get basic boots, second tier support item, a ruby crystal, and if i have enough gold wards and potions.
Getting the upgraded yellow trinket instead is a definite trade-off. You miss out on Sweeping Lens, but save the 800 gold you would have spent on the Sightstone. If you buy a pink and a few greens to get you through to level nine, you'll have a couple hundred gold left over to drop on other items. That means there's a few questions you need to ask yourself when considering this strategy.
Is there a stat I need more than 400 gp worth of health? If not, just get the Sightstone because the health is nice anyway.
Does my build have enough synergy with a different utility item to justify rushing it? If so, getting that other utility item could still support your team.
Do I scale hard enough to justify a selfish purchase as a support? Some supports transition into auxillary carries late-game. If you're one of them, having an extra slot and a little cash for a damage item could be worth it. Otherwise, just get Sightstone.
Well you can buy the wards, but you're saving lots of money with SS.
Lol. Those scrubs downvoted me ^^ so funny. I'm sorry to tell them but if a
is viable on a support then
is OP on everyone. Mind your own build first THEN harass the poor support for even more wards.
Buying wards just becomes very inefficient compared to sightstone. There is nothing wrong with regular wards, but when people look at your inventory (after you used your wards) and see you have no wards/sightstone they might get upset/confused.
It's common sense to buy a sightstone as a support.
Reason why you're getting scold at is because when you don't buy one, and you spend over 400g on wards (that's only 1 pink and 4 normal), you're putting yourself behind on other support items that can help you survive or help your adc get kills. How? You spend 400g now, later you decide you want a sightstone, you spend 800, that's 1200.
If you don't decide to buy a sightstone ever, you will spend over 800g easily over the entire course of the match. On top of that you'll probably have upgraded stealth trinket, which means you won't have a scanner to deward. All because you want to have that one slot for an extra item that will most likely not matter because you're support.
Just remember that when you don't buy a sightstone, you're trying to get your items quicker, but in the long run, you're actually losing more gold and those items you want will come very slowly but progressively. Whereas, if you invest in a sightstone, the items you want will come almost instantly (without going through the build process).
when im support/jungler (only certain junglers) I get sightstone and upgraded pink
