Is aatrox viable

I was thinking about getting aatrox because from what i saw he can carry hard late game if he isn't shut down, but i read elsewhere that he is not a viable champ so i came to ask you guys of your opinion of aatrox.

There are a lot of people out there who think there are only two or three "viable" champs per position per half-season. You really shouldn't listen to them.

Play the champions you love playing and get good with them. That's all you really need to do.

I play him top lane. He takes some getting used to and there are a handful of champs you really don't want to take him against but he's a real beast.
