Friendly Reminder: Do your Ranked Placement matches!
The season's end is not far off, so if you've been avoiding Ranked all season (or maybe haven't been around long) you've still got all the time you need to do your Placement matches. If you're unsure how they work or are nervous about doing them, here's some info that may help;
- There are 10 provisional matches
- After playing all 10 you'll be given a rank based on how much MMR you got from your wins
- More wins obviously means more MMR and a better placement
- If you've never placed in Ranked before this season, you have fresh MMR and will likely be placed in Silver
- If you have been Ranked before, your prior MMR will affect your placement.
- We all lose some MMR with each new season now.
- If you had very low MMR before, you will probably be placed lower than you were last season.
- MMR is the keyword. Not rank, MMR. If your MMR was high you might even get promoted from where you were last season.
- Bronze to Gold ranks do not have LP decay. Once you place, you don't have to play at all if you don't want to; your Rank will not drop at all before the season ends.
That's basically all I have to say. It's a mere 10 matches. If you are unranked, just do them. If you've never been Ranked before you'll probably get into Silver, and that's an automatic border and icon (Bronze doesn't get a border). Gold+ gets a skin too.
Concerning the MMR soft reset between seasons, if your MMR is low (you are losing more LP than you gain per match) you have all the time until next season begins to raise your MMR so that you aren't placed in a lower division next season.
