Help Choosing a Champion

I've been playing since S2.. but I just can't seem to find a role or champion that fits me. Don't get me wrong, I love the game, but I'm just not very good.. I just lose games. My normal wins are somewhere around -10, and when I win, I'm usually carried. I almost always win lane, but come late game, there's always someone who can gets more fed than me, and they just end up carrying their team, or another lane just gets more fed than me and roams, forcing me to farm under the tower, and basically just lose my lane. I'm not an outstanding player, but I usually get about 3 kills ahead during the laning phase. The problem is.. there's always someone who gets more fed than me, and by the time I have an established advantage over my lane, its usually too late to go help the other lanes. When I do win, it's either because A) Everyone wins lane or B) Someone on my team gets fed, which unfortunately seems to happen a lot less often. I'm just not good enough to get like, 7 kills in the laning phase. At most I'll get 4. I know that if I play 1 champion often and long enough I can do this, but I just don't have the willpower, because after about 4 losses, I get a bit discouraged and want to play someone else. For example, lets say I play Cho'Gath (one of my best champions) top, and get like 2 or 3 kills ahead by, say 11 minutes. Unfortunately, by about 5 minutes, the enemy Diana or Draven is usually about 4 kills ahead. Unfortunately, at 5 minutes, I'm usually even or just 1 kill ahead of my opponent. Are there any champions that can win a game if they win their lane, no matter how fed the enemies are? Right now I'm using Cho'Gath, Twitch, Garen, Vladimir, and Amumu. Am I just unlucky, or is there something I can do to improve, without having to completely wreck my lane, which I'm just not good enough to do consistently. Warding and vision isn't a problem.. I know how to do that, but any other tips or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I'll put links to some of my games if you want to analyze them: http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1873500629/228901188?tab=overview In this one I wrecked the Nasus (he was 2/8, I was 8/3) I was against as Garen, and decided to roam mid and bot and help them out. I pretty much took care of their Lucian who was their best player atm, and proceeded to get my score up to like, 11/4. Then, the Nasus who I had thought I had take care of just comes down after farming top for about 5-10 minutes, and completely ruins our team. While roaming, I was making sure he wasn't getting more than 2.5 minutes of free time top, and killed him every time I visited up there, probably like 2 or 3 times. http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/1874115047/228901188?tab=overview In this one, I won lane as Swain against a Cho'Gath and was about 3 kills ahead by the 12 minute mark, but the enemy Malphite and Lucian were like, about 8 kills ahead. I could take both of them on 1v1, but my team was just so behind that we ended up losing.

Are there different champions that I could have played and came out of the laning phase with the same score, but still pulled through with a victory?

Winning your lane is one thing but you have to snowball your lead by roaming and helping the other lanes and focusing on objectives. You can also pressure your lane and force the enemy jungler to come and by doing it relieve pressure from the other lanes but you have to be careful and ward well.

With proper warding and map awareness you can prevent those roams. For me personally the way i do this is to buy a pink ward on my first back and place either in baron pit behind some of the rock there or in that tiny lone bush in the middle of the river. That will give you plenty of warning in most cases to a roam or gank. Also make sure you are using your trinket in river bush if you are blue side or if you are red side ward tribush or river if you are pushed. I would reccomend running teleport and then at lvl 6 keep a close eye on yiur bot lane. Good supports will have wards in their lane bushes if their top is running teleport. If you see your bot labe is pushed to tower and they have a ward a bit behind the enemy tp down get the kills then take tower and first dragon. You may lose your own top tower depending on who your enemy laner is but 2 kills 1 tower and 1 drag is definately worth losing top outter tower.

Another piece of general advice i can give you is sometimes refered to as playing 'back 40' by playing back 40 you are virtually immune to all ganks early game. Here is how you do it.

  1. Establish the half way point between you and your opponents tower and play a little bit behind that. Only last hitting minions do NOT hit a minion unless it is the killing blow. Eventually this will cause your enemy laner to push the wave instead. Opening them to ganks and leaving you immune.

  2. Learn to last hit under tower. Getting pushed means you will have to cs under your tower. This is simple after you practice it a few times this is howbyou do it. If the minion being it by the tower is a melee minion let the tower hit is 2x then you hit it for the kill. If it is a caster minion you hit it first then let the tower hit it once then you hit it again.

  3. Its not all about kills. Kills are nice and if you can get one then go for it, but a kill is only worth about 20 or so CS in gold. Therefore if you are winning lane by 40 cs you are winning by 2 kills. Exceptions to this rule are first blood and shutdown gold which gives you bonus gold for the kill.

  4. If they are bad at farming away from the tower they will be worse under it. It is sometimes a good idea to push the enemy to their tower to force them to last hit under tpwer and potentially miss cs. It is safe to do this IF the enemy jungle is far away from you or you are well warded enough to prevent a gank. If you do this make sure any escape abilities and flash are up just in case you need to make a quick escape.
