Leveling Order for Wukong?

So I've tried to pick up Wukong several times over the past year, and I thought now with the Black Cleaver buff would be a great time to try him again. However, every time I've tried him before I never know what to max first, or how to max his abilities for different roles, and usually end up doing pretty badly because of it. His Q gives more armor shred, damage, and a much lower cooldown. W gives him higher magic damage and a much lower cooldown for better jukes. E gives him better AoE and more burst.

So I'm here wondering what is the most successful leveling order you use on him in:

  1. Top (fighter build)?
  2. Jungle (fighter build)?
  3. Mid (assassin build)?

I already have a build that works pretty well for each role and a good set of runes and masteries, so I don't really need help there. Thanks in advance to whoever can help!

I don't know if you've checked this out, but this site: http://www.mobafire.com/ is really useful when trying out new champions or perfecting different builds! So if you look here: http://www.mobafire.com/league-of-legends/champion/wukong-80 You'll see different Wukong builds. I hope this helps!

It depends a lot on your playstyle. In most cases it's best to max Q first, but if you prefer to go all-in and duel it out, E may be better in some scenarios. I personally prefer a hit-and-run playstyle.

If you're jungling, start E>W>Q. The attack speed steroid is essential for early clears (AOE damage is nice too), and use W to mitigate damage from monsters (while also dealing a little bit extra in return). Ideally use Q just before E so that E also benefits from the armor shred.

Lane Wukong I'm not as familiar with. This is where your playstyle preference makes the difference. Do you intend to trade several autos, or just use E>Q and back off? If the first case, max E. If the second, max Q. If something in between, then it's a bit of a tossup. To put it simply, max E for sustained damage, Q for burst.

What you max second is up to you, at least if you maxed Q first. Choose whether you want the shorter cooldown on Decoy, or the increased damage and attack speed steroid from Nimbus Strike. I like to do a level or two in each, but will almost always max Decoy last. If you chose to max E first, then definitely get Q second, because the reduced cooldown, increased damage, AND increased armor shred is too good to leave until last.

R > E > Q > W In all roles including jungle. Always start E. Start krugs in jungle, and E gives you attack speed boost which synergizes with the smite passive.

E max first gives you the most burst damage and it also gives you the most sustained damage. It's a win/win over Q.

When jungle clearing the trick is to auto once, then Q for the auto reset, then E for the attack speed and burst on the armor shredded monster. W if you need damage reduction because you're low on sustain, but be warned that without blue buff this will oom you quickly.

  1. Top: Leveling for top depends on the match up. For most cases though you should start E due to the fact it will help you push the wave early. Q start is ok if you against another melee brawler since it will give more damage especially with the armor shred. Standard for top is R>E>Q>W

  2. Jungle: For jungle always take E first since it gives you better clear. Next take W for the clone. This will help you since WuKong early sucks at clearing and with no built in sustain its the only way to get through early camp clears. Then take Q and go the standard R>E>Q>W.

  3. Mid: This is similar to top lane in that it depends on the match up. Since most mid are range you need to start E in order to help clear the wave in case you are pushed under turret. Next take Q then W for your escape. Its pretty standard R>E>Q>W leveling.

In general you should always max your damage abilities first then whatever utility you have.

Q is best if you follow up with additional damage. Otherwise E is best, as it has slightly more damage per rank and gives wave clear.
