Thorough Wukong guides or tips?

I have REALLY enjoyed playing Wukong lately. He brings the team utility one needs help your team, but still has enough in his kit to help you carry on your own. But since I have been picking him up I have been mostly playing him in the jungle, but I want to learn how to use him in lane.

My dilema however, I recently took on a Tryn in lane, and was shut down pretty hard. I got the first kill after a bit because he got cocky/greedy.... but he definitely won lane. He kept healing himself so I couldnt wear him down, using chicken to make me miss cs, and when I would try to force a fight after he healed (since his rage was empty) I just couldnt out duel him.

Any tips for any match up is appreciated, or any guide that is pretty thorough so I can learn the match ups is also appreciated.

I noticed xXWukong360Elite posted here. While he probably knows Wukong better than I do, please be advised that he has a particular... reputation on these forums. He's basically (for lack of a better word) the village idiot on these forums. There's quite a few people who scoff at what he has to say.

To my knowledge Wukong is best built as a bruiser. Since most of his damage output is sustained damage he needs a little tankiness to him in order to properly work. xXWukong360Elite builds him full glass cannon which usually will get you a kill or two but as soon as someone focuses you you tend to die. xXWukong360Elite's game style involves him going into bushes, letting his teammates get an enemy super low then he runs in, snipes the kill, then runs away. He usually fails at the running away part too as he has an average of 15 deaths per game. That's... alot. Basically he's the token jerkwad on your team. Don't be the token jerkwad on your team. Build bruisery items. Something like black cleaver will help you shred armor even quicker after you Q your target. This will also make your ADC's job that much easier as you pretty much neuter anyone who stacks armor. And it synergizes with your ult too. Black cleaver is what makes Wukong such a great team fighter. Build a blade of the ruined king on top of that and you can shred people even quicker while also life stealing them. That's if you're dueling people. You can also run ravenous hydra to improve wave clear if your team is lacking in that department. Wukong's passive increases his resistances, more if more enemies are present. Defensive items listed above my post are generally what work well on him.

And I don't play him much but I do know some tricks on Wukong. Like how Wukong can toss a ward over a wall and E onto a jungle camp to make an escape. Or how pressing S can be used to "juke" people into thinking you have already decoyed.

Don't focus on out dueling. Wukong is a team champion. Play safe in lane, stop risking so much.

-Max e first -then Q -then R -then lastly W

This is for an assassin Wukong build: -Start bloodthirster then go IE -the rest of the build after that is situational, but I would pick up either essence reaver for the mana or a hydra at some point. -27-0-3

Don't be afraid to secure kills (this is for all champs not just Wukong). Don't be afraid if your team calls you KSer. Just get fed early game, then you can carry. If you play assassin Wukong, don't initiate with your ult, just use E and Q to follow up. Use R towards the end of the teamfight or during times when you have to 1v2.

Take out any enemies that farm in the middle of lane without any turrets. Just gank all the people who are out of position.

I like to go Wukong mid. I might beat the enemy midlaner and that would be good, but even if I can't, there's always room to roam to top or bot and gank. Wukong mid is kinda like a 2nd jungler without smite, don't stay mid only.

Runes: full AD

I'm a Wukong main with level 5 mastery on him, with a 73% win rate in ranked, so I hope I can help :)

Have you looked for youtube guides? One of the best Wukongs NA(according to Lolskill.com) just uploaded a video guide of Wukong in ranked, and that may help: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Kp9rNMwGsDc

As far as general tips go, I may be able to help you out:

In the Jungle, your early clear is pretty bad until trailblazer, you should probably focus on farming until six unless you see some really good opportunities. Start E and get W second, and max E > Q > W. Your build is usually: Trailblazer with Warrior enchant > Black Cleaver > Mobi boots early or Merc Treads > Last Whisper > Randuins > Banshees. Some of your defensive items can beswitched around, they're mostly situational.

I'm not that experienced as far as Top Lane, but you have the potential to win a lot of matchups, and even if you don't you will always be a factor in teamfights.

In teamfights, you have to remember that you are not the initiator, you are an assassin. don't start the fights, wait for someone else to, then jump in and blow up their carries. Sometimes, if you're behind or your carries are fed, your job will be mainly peel, so in that case wait for your opponents divers to engage and try to keep them away from your priority targets.

Edit: If you want to learn the matchups, I recommend either one of the guides on Lolking, or looking at this matchup list on Champion.gg

MonkeyKing I hope this helped, good luck on mastering the Monkey King!MonkeyKing

First let me just say, I fucking love Wukong.

So you've decided to take the first step into playing Wukong, that's good. You have now embarked on the journey of getting free elo from a broken champ.

Alright first is the build.

Start items : item 1055 or item 1054

Personally I prefer the item 1074 start because it helps with laning since you'll negate some damage from pokes and it'll give you better regen. The item 1055 start is for certain champs that you can usually all in, basically squishy champs.

Your core items will be : item 3074 item 3111 and item 3071

These items will allow you to do damage while providing you with some kind of sustainability in lane. The item 3074 will provide sustainability and good damage, plus the active helps quite a bit. The item 3111 will ensure that no form of cc will fuck you up because that's the case with most opposing top laners. Finally the item 3071 will give you the armour shred you need especially with Wukong's ult.

Damage items : item 3078 item 3156 item 3072

These are items you take after your core item if the enemy team is squishy or if you're super fed. These will ensure that you do the damage you need to do to help carry your team to victory.

Defensive items : item 3143 item 3190 item 3102 item 3742

Get these if your team lacks a tank because without a tank you will lose no matter how fed someone is because the enemy team will just steam roll you since they can destroy your carries in 2 seconds and you'll never reach them. Depending on the situation you buy different items. If your lane opponent is ad, then start with item 3742 and destroy him with your armour and extra damage. If bot fed or you're behind, get a item 3143 to help your team with team fights and make a comeback. If your lane opponent is AP or mid got fed, buy the item 3190 to give your whole team MR and negate him out. Finally if the other team has a shit load of cc, item 3102 is your friend.

Masteries : Offensive - 21/9/0 just basic masteries taking ad and cooldown for offensive and some health and regen for defensive Defensive - 0/27/3 pure tank masteries and movement speed on utility.

Runes : Basic AD runes - AD Marks, Armour Seals, MR Glyphs and Armour Pen Quints Duelist Runes - Armour Pen Marks , Armour Seals, Flat Cooldown Glyphs, and Cooldown Quints

Playstyle : So to play Wukong you basically need to know 2 things. First you need to know how to use that all important W. That W will save your lives more times than you can count, or it'll fuck up someone's day and make yours perfect. So the things that you need to practice with when learning how to use the clone is, when should I clone and what do I do while I'm invisible. First let's address when you should clone. You should try to save your clone as much as possible because this will literally be the thing that decides whether you die or not. If possible try to save your clone for the last second or right before the enemy uses a skill that way your clone takes all the damage and you get out scot free since they have no way to fuck you up. One thing you can do is just stop moving right near a bush or during a chase because that'll make your opponents think that you've cloned and then once they go past you, you actually clone and get the fuck out of there. So next is what you should do when you clone. Personally while stealthed the main thing is to get the fuck out of there cuz the reason you cloned is to just escape or dodge everything they throw at you and then go for them or just make sure they can't find you. The second thing you need to know when playing wukong is the ult, that all important game changing cc. Basically practice your timing with it and learning when is the right time to use it. Don't go full derp and use it while your team hasn't even got into position yet. Practice you position in general and you'll be on your way to diamond in no time.

Final thoughts : So thanks for reading this, hopefully you learned a thing or two. And here's a shameless self promotion :) Feel free to check out my stream and ask me for more tips.

So another issue that seems to be reoccurring in my games is my team forcing me to go in first in a 5 vs 5 when I have been told by countless sources to never do it. My teams start to get frustrated with me even if I explain why I shouldn't... any way to properly diffuse this and play the way I was taught?

Zoratu9/16/2015, 3:07:55 AM1 votes

I mostly play top wukong at a platinum level and here are some tips off the top of my head:

Start flask and 4 pots (you get 4th pot by waiting in fountain) but if you are against a renekton or someone ad you think you are gonna have a hard time with you can start cloth and 5 pots. Dorans blade and longsword are if you want to play really agressive and kill at level 1 or 2, it actually works pretty good against some ranged people. You can either go teleport or ignite but I go ignite to get kills easier. Generally ignites better though. You max e because it does more damage than q. Usually you get q at level 2 but if you are already losing lane you can get w to avoid some dmg.

                                                                                                                     **BUILD**

For your build buy 2 d blades for the lifesteal or at least get 1 then rush hydra into last whisper get boots sometime between finished hydra and finished last whisper, then depending on what your team needs or you feel like you need you can either go black cleaver then get tanky stuff or you can go ghostblade into maw and buy whatevery ou want as your last item. I've been playing around with a build which is hydra, merc treads, last whisper, black cleaver, deadmans plate, and then maw. It has pretty good tankiness and really great damage and burst.

For matchups you can go to allorims youtube channel hes a challenger wukong main (well not anymore but hes really good at wukong). GEnerally though against trynd as long as you don't get cheesed by crits early on its not that hard just use w to dodge damage then burst him.

Good luck with wukong man hes pretty fun

There are a lot of guides here which is glad to see but I might end up repeating the same crap over and over again. Basically if you are new to Wukong's mechanics and still having trouble generally doing well in lane it is best to do a bruiser build.

summoner 4 Should always be taken. summoner 12 Should be taken if you are aiming to help your bot lane or mid lane get fed by assisting them in kills. You can also use it to get kills yourself I guess, Teleport can also be used if you are planning for a splitpushing playstyle. summoner 14 I would use this against sustain heavy targets/top laners like DrMundo Nasus Darius Aatrox Tryndamere. In Blind Pick you won't know who will pick who so I guess this tip is typically null and void there but if you ever try him in ranked and are having trouble stomping your lane ignite is always a great pick no matter what. Personally I take ignite more because I find that my team mates are unreliable at following up my teleports most of the time. And it lets me fight counters easier. Like Tryndamere and Riven who are relatively squishy at top lane. With proper co-ordination though teleport can be really strong. I try it out when I'm in group calls with team mates, it's gr8.

For starters start: item 2041 + item 2003 against stronger top laners. You can even wait for at base for a few more seconds to get an extra health or mana potion.

item 3071 is kind of core because it helps you AD based teammates delete targets faster. Your E and ultimate, as well as a Hydra's physical damage outputs applies the armor reduction debuff of this item. You can generally get 5 stacks of this on at least one target allowing you to reduce their armor considerably. Especially great against tanks who are trying to soak up damage for their team. They die faster instead. The cooldown also lets you use your ultimate more often. You will also move faster during your ultimate while hitting targets because of its Rage passive. item 3074 is a common item on Wukong. It complements his kit really well. Wukong has zero sustain so he needs this in most situations where he's not taking good control of the lane. His Q procs its passive. His E brings out more of its passive. You generally push lanes faster. It is also great for bursts of damage. The combo is typically Q or E -> AA -> immediately Hydra -> Q or E -> AA -> W or R. Does a lot of burst damage. item 3110 I usually take this if I'm not the only viable tank in the team and if there is a better tank in my team. The 20% CDR combined with Black Cleaver's 20% CDR makes sure you have your ultimate ready at basically every teamfight. Armor is substantial. Great against ADCs and Yasuos. I find that Wukong uses up a lot of mana once I'm done with Flask. item 3156 is a great bruiser pick as Wukong against AP heavy teams. But if you find that you're always getting caught by that random CC in teamfights and end up not doing so well in the game you should probably go for item 3102 instead. Great against Veigars and spell casters who need to combo their abilities. item 3111 is the best pick for enemy teams who have a lot of CC. item 3047 is best when there is someone like Yasuo for mid, a Fiora/Tryndamere for top, and like a Vayne at bot lane. They will predominantly be AD and the best part is they do damage mostly through basic attacks. item 3142 is a good pick if you don't need to tank as much for your team. Just make sure you use the active to make full use of this.

Don't pick Triforce if you can avoid it. It's not as useful as B.C. You can't proc its spellblade effect while your ulting, and its empowered AA damage falls off after mid game.

Max E first, it overalls deals more damage than Q in extended fights, like against Tryndamere where he'll force you to fight him. At max rank it give 50% AS, really strong. This ability is also easier to use because people can see your Q when you enhance your autoattacks. Better for harass. More unpredictable. Max Q second. Arm Pen is always nice. Then max R. If you're tossing up between using the ability when you're a small number of minions away from levelling up to 11 then you should probably wait till you are level 11. It deals wayyy more damage at rank 2 than rank 1 there is a massive damage difference. Then max W.

Once you're confident with Wukong's abilities and generally playing him; where you aren't feeding as much kills anymore or you're really good at catching people out whilst dodging damage you can then try for a glass cannon build which Allorim NA's Best Wukong likes to build. I stress, likes.

His items typically are item 3074 item 3142 item 3035 item 3156 item 3026 with Merc Treads or Ninja Tabi + Homeguards. You should watch him for tips. He has a twitch channel. And posts videos on youtube. He has a series where he specifically plays as Wukong against all kinds of champions. He is worth the watch, he wins against Renektons and Tryndameres in his elo it's great!

Tricks you might want to know:

Wukong's W can block abilities for you. Caitlyn ultimates, Ezreal's ultimate does less damage after it hits its first target, can save your life. You can use this to block skillshots for your team mates. Decoy also pushes you from your original spot. It's useful for when you are just out of AA range from your target and want to kill them with an AA. You can also use this ability to phase through Jarvan IV's ultimate. Just stand as close to his wall as possible and press W, you will get out of it. You can also use this to tank turret shots for you. I've yet to learn this perfectly but I see Allorim do it all the time when it's just him under the enemy turret. Best used when you're around bush to confuse the enemy team. You can pretend to be a decoy, works better when you walk into bushes, by pressing S. Most people will get fooled in Gold and below. Don't underestimate W's damage at the very early levels. It can deal as much damage as one of your autoattacks. I've gotten 3 kills from this ability's damage (was trying to run away from a 30 health Vayne). You can use this to drop enemy minion aggro, so they stop attacking you, useful when you're trying to kill someone and aren't near any bushes. Don't spam this though, you'll run out of mana pretty quickly.

His Q can reset your auto attack animation. Basically, press it right after your basic attacks connect to maximise your damage output in each fight. You will notice that autoattacks have animations after you have hit your enemy with them, pressing this ability will get rid of that unneeded, useless animation allowing you to start autoattacking earlier. If your enemy target is right next to you, the best way to maximise your damage is to use this first instead of E. E is usually used because you need to close the gap between you and the target. Use Q first when you are already close enough to maximise E damage.

Don't be quick on the trigger on pressing E in fights. Some cases, it's best to wait. Wait for the enemy to flash away or dash away before you use this. You can hit targets farther than the range indicator suggests because the other Wukongs that come out during this ability can hit targets farther than your max range. This is particularly useful for CSing against oppressive champions. You can use the adjacent minion to last hit a minion that's too far away to hit normally with this ability.

Sometimes it's better to cancel R when your E and Q abilities are up. E Q does more damage in a shorter time frame. Great burst, great to surprise people and kill them off.

You can reveal monsters over walls with Ravenous Hydra's active. You can try this out by standing in lane over the wall of the giant frog, Krugs. Stick to the wall as close you can. Use the straight/flat wall facing the lane, not the corridor towards the jungle. Use the Ravenous Hydra active and the frog should get hit. The frog will start attacking you because it's ranged and it will reveal itself because of it. You can then press E over to it and escape that way. No wards needed. This works on Wolf and one of the Epic monsters, either Red or Blue can't remember. I use it often near Krugs if I need a quick escape.

I'm not a great player for either one of those champs, but i'de recommend looking up a youtuber called c00lstoryjoe, he's a diamond/master level player and was the ranked the best wukong player in North America during this past season. His build is basically all AD, the tankiest item he gets is item 3071. In general, he's a pretty informative commentator and seriously dominates games in whatever lane he's in.
