What exactly should I have done differently in this situation?

My entire team fed then blamed me for the loss. First thing that happened, I connected to the room first, then called mid. This Ryze calls mid as well; and insists he got it first. My team refused to say anything until last second; one of them said that I called it first. It's too late to do anything now, so we ended up having to have a duo top. (and he kept insisting during the match that I stole mid from him)

I enter the match as AP ezreal mid. I end up against an AD ezreal mid. We stale mate for a bit, and already my team starts dying in bot. I kill him then shove into his tower, then I go to roam (I couldn't take tower because no sheen and no AD). I catch the enemy jax doing dragon, I kill him and steal dragon. Then I continue to bot and kill their adc. The support escapes, so I recall and go mid with my new Sheen + (the other lichbane piece).

Jax starts camping mid, so I can't over push. I keep poking down the two of them, but because I lack crowed clear; it starts shoving into my tower. I ping for help, no one can come because we have no jungler (not that there is any reason our top laning Shaco couldn't have come).

Jax dives me, I arcane shift out of his dive and kill the ezreal. Jax manages to kill me. He's low, but since we have no jungler he starts hammering my tower knowing full well there is nothing anyone can do about it. Tower is gone before I even respawn.

I come back mid and push it a bit, I don't want to over push because I know I will get ganked by the Jax and Ezreal. So I go back to bot which is again, having trouble. At this point I am literally the only one with kills. Jax and Ezreal start pushing into the second tower while I am busy in an intense match in bot. I could not recall, and even if I did they would have done the exact same thing they did earlier and traded 1 to kill me, and the other would have finished the tower; so I decide to stay a bit longer and kill both the support and adc, but I die. Instead of taking their tower, my team recalls to defend mid (all 4 of them); and starts bitching that I lost it. (mean while both top and bot get lost while they are busy fighting jax and ezreal)

By the end of the match everyone on both teams was saying that I sucked and that my team lost because I lost mid. If I didn't leave mid we would have lost it anyways because they can just shove it into tower repeatedly and I would fall behind in CS because of no crowd control and the tower would have gone down over time. Meanwhile bot would have been lost as well.

The enemy jax said that my team would have caught up if I held mid; the same team that didn't make a single kill the entire match. They didn't even so much as complete an item (I had lichbane, sorcerer boots, and the two parts of a rabadons). They didn't even get very many assists either, as I had to kill people myself.

You guys would have lost late game anyway. Your team comp was garbage. Shaco was building AP so he couldn't be tanky and thresh was building like a troll. No tank and their team had strong engage.

Don't sweat the small stuff. It was one round, it sounds like you did what you could.

Accept it, learn from it, move on. Worrying about what you should have done doesn't fix anything for you.

ideas:

  1. you coulda been the honorable one and switch roles in champ select. if you go into blind pick dead set on a role, you're gonna have games with an awkward disjointed team like this one... but going in willing to be flexible greatly decreases that chance.

  2. you coulda gone to the duo lane and let the other person mid, then when they are being camped go help out. it isn't that long of a walk, and leaving your lane partner in a 1v1 lane isn't that big a sacrifice.

  3. you actually could push the lane.. then roam imediately.

  4. buy a ward, and put a trinket on one side and a ward on the other. don't put it in the bush, but rather beyond the bush, so you see jax coming. of course if jax starts farming your jungle, he can sneak behind you.. good spots I like are in the bush behind red buff, or in the opening to river there. then on blue side, putting it in that bush behind blue buff gives you some vision of river and of the jungle path there, but it isn't perfect, and in that bush in river gives you complete vision of river, but not of the jungle path, and if you put the ward tucked behing that thick wall there you have great vision of the jungle path but no vision of river. in your situation, i guess I'd put a ward in the opening to the river from their red side, and the trinket in the river brush, and hang on the side of the lane closer to the ward, so that if he came from his blue jungle i had more time to run, but if he came from river or his red jungle i'd see him coming anyway and it wouldn't be close, an easy walk back to my turret. the only blind spot then, is if he is in my team's blue jungle... and remember, as ezreal you have two flashes if you need them to get back to tower, easy to play safe. you even have a long range q to farm with, so that you can safely farm a pushed lane and not be to far from the turret.

  5. you could just do the same thing you did.. but accept that some games are bad games, because the skill gap between your team and the enemy team is too great. match making trys to match teams evenly, but there is always gonna be a little bit of a skill gap, and sometimes it's a bigger gap. just leave the losses behind you, don't let it get under your skin. always try your best, but remember that sometimes your best isn't enough and that is OK. even the best players in the world lose games, you know :)

Your problem will most likely be solved by playing draft or team builer. Normal blind pick is terrible.

My first suggestion on the game would be don't play blind pick.

Second more serious would be copy paste the chat log that shows you called it first if you're gonna play blind, so then it supports your case. Also don't lock until you're sure you'll get the role, as sometimes since it is blind pick an insta lock or someone who just doesn't care bc it's blind pick will take the role regardless of calling it and you have t choose if it is worth it to lock the role you want or fill something else.

you couldve played w/e roll was open. either way when you get players who insist in just 1 role, chances are that the match wont go in your favor.

You just have to accept the fact that some games are unwinnable.
