Looking for CritPlank Tips (Yohoho)

Recently picked up Gangplank and he's a lot of fun. I've been using mostly legit builds for him (standard AD rune page, 21/9/0 masteries), and have had some success.

However, i was wondering if anyone had any tips for building a pure-cheese critplank. What runes should i get? (i've been buying up crit-chance yellows) What are the best masteries? Critplank sounds like a lot of fun so i'd appreciate any input :)

To cheese top lane, I recommend crit chance marks and quints, flat hp seals, and your glyphs are all preference, though I like flat cdr. Standard 21/9 ad masteries are fine on him. You should start brawlers gloves to maximize the chances of q criting. To cheese, you want to trade with q as much as possible. As long as you are going even or slightly losing trades, you will eventually crit and be able to all in. Unless you are really low, taking e second is the best for cheesing, otherwise take w.

However, I personally prefer playing him mid for a few reasons -You can build 100% crit so you don't have to pray to rngesus -Most opponents don't build armor (or a zhonyas at the most) -You can out trade 95% of mid laners for the rest of the game after you buy shiv -Great roams after buying shiv -Consistently chunk squishies for half their hp after shiv -480 ms without e active or phage proc, so you can make up for your lack of defenses with dodging skillshots, kiting, and oranges. -Way more useful mid-late game than critplank top

The only problems with critplank mid imo are that you lose to most assasins, it's harder to cheese, and are generally useless pre-shiv. My runes and mastery page are on my lolking if you are curious. My usual build path is flask 2 hp pots 1 mana pot>avarice blade+brawlers>shiv>t2 boots (usually lucidity)>ie>pd>triforce>defensive item.

I think you're supposed to run a full crit chance rune page on gangplank (super expensive rune page btw). For itemization, u build Triforce -> Static Shiv -> Infinity edge and from that point, you can build whatever you want.

Instead of crit chance runes, I prefer crit damage. Those runes plus your masters gets me about 300% damage with crits. 250% damage with an IE and another 50% from runes and masteries. I build static schiv, Trinity Force, IE, Ravenous Hydra, then whatever. Either phantom dancer, frozen mallet, or Banshee's Veil. I always get boots of swiftness when playing crit-plank.

EDIT: I also always start with that flask item that has the 3 charges for health and mana. I rely on that early hp/mp regeneration to sustain and let's me keep using Parrrley to last hit. Crit-plank's damage comes from his build, so really practice last hitting and farming with your Q.

thanks guys, this is all pretty helpful. GP mid sounds pretty hilarious, actually; i was in a game where later on i would chunk the enemy LB for 60% of her health with one parrley. I'm glad i got the self-titled BestCritplankNA to give me advice, lol :)
