Looking to improve my knowledge

Hey all, so I'm a Gold V top main and I'm a strong believer in the concept that knowledge is 90% of this game. Also being an aspiring scientist/engineer I have an inherent thirst to learn more or improve upon what I have. So I was wondering if you guys had any tips for me to help me improve my gameplay? Also if any higher elo top laners would want to go into a custom a coach me a little I'd greatly appreciate it.

Some information about my champs and play style: Volibear is my main man, but I also play Maokai, Malphite, Gnar (sometimes), Gangplank, Trynd, Irelia, and Rek'Sai. Others as well of course but those are my primary go to's. I like playing safe-ish but still lane bullies that can win prolonged trades.
