I need help with the laning phase

My last few games as Yasuo have not gone well. I play top lane, btw. So the game always statrs and I'm doing well: My CS is higher than my opponents, I've poked them down using my shield to absorb harass, etc. Ussualy I can get a 20 CS or more lead and sometimes a level advantage before the laning phase is over. But then I start feeding. I don't know why this happens. I can go from 1/0/1 with almsot double my lane opponent's CS to 2/8/3 with less CS than my opponent in a matter of minuets. This usually happens around the time I finish item 3087, what is supposed to be a huge power spike ends up getting me killed. Over and over again. I want to know why this happens. I don't try to all in during this time (cause now I'm afraid of dying), I ward constantly, but HP pots, poke from a distance, everything. It just doesn't make sense.

A note: This is coming from recent experience against Riven and Irelia mostly, so maybe they just counter m or something, but that doesn't explain how I can get a lead and then so consistently and suddenly lose it...

Please help me not lose the laning phase every game

Statik Shiv gives you safe poke but pushes the wave. Perhaps try building a different starter item such as Blade of the ruined king. It will help with sustain and dueling.

Static makes it so you are actively pushing the wave even when you might not want to. Maybe that's your problem?

If you like to push wave, try and see if you can roam. It helps you snowball other lanes. I think what's happening is that you're not respecting the power spike of the enemy. Riven with a Tiamat has a ton of burst, and the completed Ravenous Hydra provides even more burst+sustain. By the time you got your shiv, the enemy Riven probably got a Tiamat so she can burst you down. If you're both squishy, it's a fair duel no matter how fed you are so long as each of you can burst the other. As for Irelia, I think she's just good at comebacks.
