Looking for a good top laner.

Hey guys, I'm trying to figure out who is a good top lane champ that I can make use of. I don't mind having a high skill cap as long as they are any of the following :

-Durable or can sustain themselves -Handy in offsetting my opponents (Crowd Control) -Mobile -Have good fighting kits for team fights or 1v1s -Can stay onto their opponents well.

Anyone in mind? I watched some ranked footage and saw potential in Irelia Hecarim Jax Malphite Sion Riven Garen and they look very decent at the least. Sure it may look like that I'm looking for an 'Imbalanced' or 'Broken' champ, however I'm simply just trying to get together a good top lane roster that plays to my strengths, and can hold their own in any point of the game with enough care and good decision making.

I'm quite open to suggestions, but I DO prefer to be tanky as I have habits of engaging others quite alot. The CC would make it better for me as it enhances the productivity of the fight initiation (at least from my perspective). Any ideas?

If there's any champs you have in mind at that please let me know, as well as the pros and cons that I need to look out for. Thanks.

Putting the champions you've looked at in order based on their ability to fit your categories. Durable and can sustain themselves: Garen (hp regen passive) Irelia (W for hp gains) Sion (hp gaining in kit)

Handy in offsetting my opponents (Crowd Control) : Malphite Hecarim Sion all have hard cc ults, ranked on reliability + ease to use

Mobile: Riven (Q and E) Hecarim (E and ult) Sion + Malphite (ults) Irelia has a dash that resets on kill so is only optimal for creeps, Jax has a hop which can be used to get to wards, Garen only has a Q speed up, which also removes slows on him.

Have good fighting kits for team fights: Hecarim Malphite Sion

Have good fighting kits for 1v1s: Riven Irelia Jax

Garen kind of falls between these two categories based on how you build him.

Can stay onto their opponents well: Malphite Riven Garen Irelia Jax Jax needs phage/trinity force to stick to opponents more than irelia does.

Overall Irelia is a solid pick for someone who's a bit less tanky, and Sion is great for getting more tanky. If you want CC in the kit as well, two good semi/off-tanks are Hecarim and Wukong.

Consider Renekton. He fits all of those pretty well.

Fiora.

She has no CC, but if you don't mind that she can kill lvl 3 because of 125ish ad (with right runes and masteries) with item 1055

Go on the league of legends twitter and get Garen +dread knight skin for free. Try him out his passive gives him health regen and late game 1v1 you will almost always win

As a top lane main, I would recommend either Maokai Sion Shyvana Hecarim in that order. If you go as shyv and or hec, you can pretty much carry a game easier, but your own skill must be substantially higher with decision making, and mechanics. Maokai and Sion are much easier to play, and are also more focus on the team fight, and providing their team with good pick potential.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. I decided to run Nasus for top lane, and he seems very strong overall.
