I don't think people realize how important pick ban phase is

pick ban is not just to pick who you want to play as and who you dont want to play against. it tells you how to win the game. if the other team picks a bunch of late game champs and your team is a bunch of early/mid game champs pick and ban gives you your win condition. it lets you know right then and there to win you need to bully your lane then push down towers abusing your power spikes and end early. Because if you dont the other team will eventually outscale you and they will auto win unless they throw massively. you have people who dont pay attention to this aspect of picks and bans then the mid game goes great for them then suddenly the other team does really good and people rage about throws or "that champs op" when in reality they were ahead and just relaxed then their window of victory closed. their is allot more examples then just this but its the general idea

tl;dr: you learn your win condition in pick and ban you should pay attention to it and play to it

Idk what rank you are, but for almost everyone pick/ban phase just means "what do I not want to play against and what do I want to play" Yes, counter-picking and what not is considered, but it is not nearly as important as any part of once you are in-game. For high level diamonds/masters/challengers/ pro players, the pick/ban becomes an essential tool, used to craft team comps and strategies. Unless you are playing at that level, it just isn't as important as you think it is. Look at some guys in Silver, they could have an amazing laning comp. But still get destroyed by the late game champs the enemy picks because they are just bad. Sure, Riven will beat Nasus in lane, but not if that Riven tried to dive 3 times and ends up a whole item behind.

You aren't totally wrong, it is important. But it is important to a much smaller portion of the players than you think it is.
