Tips for Nautilus Support

Not that I'm having trouble playing him or nothing (honestly, if I was having trouble with Nautilus of all champs, I met as well back up the keyboard and mouse and quit League all together). But while I am doing an adequate job woth the champ, I of course do want to do better than a mere adequate.

Any items on Nautilus that are better than others for certain situations?

Any champions Nautilus has better synergy with than others?

Any runes or masteries that are optimal for certain situations or matches I should be aware of?

Any answers or advice are appreciated (that was a lotof A's in one sentence). Thanks.

You know how Blitzcrank will just waltz up to you and E so your zigzagging to dodge Q is pointless? Do that with Naut, except you don't even have to spend mana because it's built into your passive. It's scary :*(

Naut is a tanky high CC support. He plays similar to Leona except he has more CC and a bit less tankiness. However, his Q can be hard to land because minions block it unlike Leona's ability but when you do you can deal more damage. First off, build tank support. item 3302, 2 Health pots, yellow trinket and a ward to start.

If you need some sustain think about getting item 3097 as the extra proc can really help with sustain. Otherwise get SS asap. Even if you get Targon make sure you have enough for a few wards ideally pink and 2 green to cover you until you can go back to get SS.

item 3800 item 3110 item 3401 item 3190 item 3143 are all good choices to build on Naut support. I prefer getting item 3800 more often then not due to the nice active to help engage. item 3110 is a good substitute for RG if you want more tanky stats for your first support item and the passive works really well because your Q drags you into the enemy team when you get a pick.

The tanky stats are important because you want to proc naut's passive on all the enemies kind of like a weaker version of Udyr's Bear stance that roots instead of stuns. This gives your basic AA amazing peeling ability as long as you peel for your carry. I personally find more worth from naut when i am protecting my carry just because of all his close range CC. Stay near them and wait for the enemy to try and engage then punish them.
