Is Full AP build on Mordekaiser still viable?

I seen H2k picked Morde and then proceeds to build without . Is this old AP build still a real thing on reworked Morde? I thought it was already long dead.

Builds from professional games are not always going to be the same or "best" for solo queue. Main reasons being difference in skill levels, difference in coordination and teamplay levels, and difference in strategies.

That said, Morde has an AP ratio on his W and R with no AD ratio at all on those, an equal AD and AP ratio on E (his main poke skill), and a higher AD than AP ratio on his Q (the hardest skill to pull off against a coordinated team). Given that AP items tend to have more AP per item than AD items do AD, the damage increase is higher per item building AP than AD.

Additionally, strong AP items also with defensive stats (such as the three you mentioned) are more prevalent than AD items with defensive stats. Given Morde need to get into the fight, the defensive stats are vital.

Trinity Force still provides many things Morde likes and still provides some things he doesn't need. I can definitely see builds both with and without Trinity Force being valid.

I had a game where there was morde supp, and he went full ap. He was straight glass cannon, but he did so much dmg and spellvamp we had to 5 man focus him for about 10 seconds to kill him. His team sucked without him though, so we won even with losing so much health before going to the others. I don't remember his build though.
