Looking for lane advice (Top)

Ok I will start this by saying I am fully aware I am in bronze (hence why I am here, trying to improve).

So for starters I have been maining top lane and have been using various sources to improve. Watching streams, lolking, forums, youtube, you get the point. I have already noticed major improvements in my game such as warding when split pushing, learning when to tele gank, CSing, wave control, and just generally have been dying less. I have spent a great deal of time reading up on match ups yet this seems to still be my biggest area of struggle. I used to die from failure to ward ie ganks however now, while I am dying less I still struggle in lane.

I am wondering if anyone has any general tips for laning in top. Obviously match up knowledge comes with time and playing but I was wondering if anyone has any good tips for how/when to trade etc. If you all need any further info please post here or add me in game. I will try to check this post as much as I can.
