Peeling for the mage and adc is your job

I just want to post this as a reminder to everyone who doesn't understand what peeling is. When your mage or adc (your main source of burst and sustained damage) is being attacked, it's your job to peel for them so they can live.

But why? I have to focus the enemy carries.

No you don't. If your a part of the front-line its in your job description to peel for the back line.

But why?

Cause your either a tank or a fighter (assassins focusing adc/mage do not belong here unless your an off-tank) who can be kited.

My ADC/APC just sucks.

No, they are dived and helpless to defend themselves since they build mainly damage. In fact ADC/APC's will always be dived when the opportunities arises to do it. Without a ADC/APC you will lose 100% of teamfights if you can not insta-kill the enemy carries.

One last thing before I go: -ADC = Attack Damage CARRY -APC (or mage) = Ability Power CARRY

The word carry is in the name. So, protect them and let them do what they were literally designed for. Carry your team.

Hope you enjoyed the rage and see you on the rift

Generally, my thought process is if my ADC/Mage is fed, ill peel, if theirs is fed, ill go after them

No offense...but this is what I hear from every ADC who honestly doesn't understand his positioning.

As long as the ADC/APCs are positioning properly, I will do my best to peel for them. No argument there. If I'm a tank (or a bruiser, and there's no tank available on the team at the time), I'll do my best to peel. However, if I'm a bruiser and there is a tank, I might dive the enemy carries so you can take advantage of the chaos.

Either way, the whole peeling thing goes both ways. The carries need to be willing to be peeled (no, diving the enemy team and then getting insta-gibbed does not give you license to bitch about peeling) by positioning themselves, and the frontline need to to their job of locking down the enemy frontline and protecting their carries.

no ur front line is to zone their carry out, ur back line is to either kite or peel, which generaly support's job and as well as ur carry's job. meaning will have to sacrifice our dmg source because I deem a play can be made at ur sacrifice as well ur not the only source of dmg. u can have all the dmg build u want if u don't know what to do with it ur same as sitting at base. so no ur not my priorty.

Obviously, the balance between should you be focused on peeling, or targeting their carries is different depending on which characters are in the game which one your are and who in the game is fed. But, for the most part you are right.

The easy exception to this though is if you are a fed tank. If you are fed, you really should just be going after their carries. It forces their carries away form the fight, it forces their tanks/bruisers/ everyone else to either fight a short handed fight against the rest of your team, or also try to focus you. Since you are drawing all the focus, you are doing your job perfectly, your carries should be free to melt faces while you either get slowly beat down by their team, or even eliminate their carries.

its technically the supports job to peel. the tank really should be tanking hits from the apc and adc and make their lives miserable. yknow the thing that makes them helpless?.

if and adc/apc is badly positioned its in the advantage of the enemy team not the other way around YOU the adc/apc fucked up.

Ideal positioning for a team fight:

Backline=====Middleline=====Frontline Adc/Mage=Support/Assassins=Tanks/Bruisers/Fighters

Backliners dish out damage on enemy champions from the outskirts of a fight. They position themselves so as to dish out their damages but still be out of harm's way themselves. Burst mages should apply their burst and then hide begin an ally until the cool downs reset. DPS mages and ADCs should be employing a kiting strategy. Retreat from advancing enemies, chasing retreating enemies. But NEVER advancing past their middle or front liners. If they retreat so should you.

Mid liners are opportunistic fighters. They position themselves so as to protect the back line and only charge in if there is a kill to be made on a high priority target. When they do charge in they should only be doing so to neutralize a target and should immediately retreat out of the front lines and into the middlelines. Do not blow all of your abilities in one go if you're the support. Use an ability for chain CC or to rack up extra damage but save something for a peel. If an assassin wait until something important gets locked down. Go in, delete said target (or do force it to retreat) and get out. Don't stick around the front lines.

Front liners are the main source for initiating fights. They take the brunt of the abuse of the enemy. Go in, disrupt their positioning and get your team to focus something down. Kill something if you can and distract the enemy team as long as possible.Make the enemy have to peel you away so that those peels aren't there to be used on a more potent threat like your assassin. Tanks go in and shrug off their damage. Whittle down their front line. Get them low so that they cannot perform their job properly. Force them to chase and misposition themselves. Split them up and pick them apart. Fighters whittle down the enemy champions while avoiding or taking abuse in return. Charge the back Lin not to split them up but to kill them. Apply CC when possible. You swap out with the support when you get low. Peel when weak, initiate when strong.

If you as a ADC get peeled or assassinated then you are way out of position, stop bitching about other people and learn to stay safe and out play the enemy. Demanding your team to peel for you will not fix you getting peeled, you are simply out of position.

No amount of peel can help you if they dive your ass, you can pray that your team has enough CC to save you and turn the fight around but peeling ain't gonna do the trick.

It depends on the team comp. Champions like Garen, Darius, Malphite, etc are better diving after the enemy carries. They can peel, but not as well as someone like Leo or Naut or Thresh. If you're a carry and you see there's only one champion on your team to peel for you, that's on you to identify that and be extra careful.
