Kha'Zix in the new jungle, help!

So I used to play Kha'Zix jungle quite a bit, but with 4.21 I switched to Xin Zhao as his sustain makes things a lot easier there. Recently though, I've been trying to get back to Kha'Zix, because from everything I hear he is still a viable choice.

With that said, I feel like I can't make it around the jungle without having to back. The new camps just seem to kill me, or bring me down so low I have to return home before ganking. Is there a specific talent/rune setup I should run? Or perhaps a different route than the norm with him? I love Kha, but I feel like I just can't survive in this new jungle with him. Thanks for any help.

I can't give much solid advice, as I'm still trying to adjust to Kha'Zix in new jungle. I did start taking 9-21 (or 3-21-6) masteries, and noticed a bit of a difference.

Blue side jungle usually feel a little better by nature of having red buff on the same side as bot lane. Why? Because bot lane can give a much better leash than top without getting set too far back in lane, and you can smite red for hp back. The route I take atm is smiteless on Krugs (pop a pot as needed), then early smite red lvl 2 for the hp gain, then skip razors (they hurt like a bitch) and do wolves instead. From here you have smite back up and can try blue/gank, but I think it's better to just recall and get your upgraded smite & a couple more pots unless something requires your immediate presence.

Purple side is pretty much the same, you go toad->blue->wolves and you can smite toad over blue since smiting blue doesn't give anything meaningful at lvl 2 (as opposed to toad passive). You might be forced into early recall, but that's okay. Pick up a couple pots.

Since early jungle is a lot harder, I wouldn't bother trying to get off any amazing ganks. Unless you see a really solid opportunity, focus on farming to 6 and getting at least basic dmg items (ex warrior or tiamat). The damage nerfs made fighting early as Khaz really hard on top of the fact that you're using 9-21 to survive the jungle.

Hope this helps.
