I was just wondering what exactly spell vamp applies to. Does it apply to DoT moves like malzahars E or W? AoE spells like Malz's Q? Does it apply to spell empored auto attacks like Kayle's E? I just wasn't totally sure and couldnt really find specific info on the wiki. Thanks guys.

Anyways it basically works on any damage from abilities that are not basic attack modifiers or apply on hit effects.
That is why spell vamp is basically useless/unnoticeable for most champions- it has to be balanced for all cases (burst and sustain abilities/champs, AOE vs single target) which means it unfortunately has to be tuned to be weak.
