Last Place = -36LP, First Place = +98LP?
How is this ranking system balanced? I just got gold within less than 20 games because you hardly lose any LP and win a ridiculous amount if you win. How long until everyone is Diamond?

All that means is that your MMR is way higher than your current rank. That's not a broken system, that's one trying to catch you up to where you actually belong. It makes a lot of sense considering people have to start all the way at the bottom of Iron and work their way up from there. Anyone, like apparently yourself, that is good enough to land a lot higher than iron will clearly need to gain more than they lose.
This is simply the elo system working perfectly.
