[alternate map modes] What if destroying the nexus wasn't the end?

What if the loss of your nexus wasn't game over? What if the nexus was only there to revive you, heal you at fountain and activate the base laser? I think that would be interesting, because you'd have to hunt down whoever was alive when it exploded in order to win. You might need some kind of periodic fog of war reveal to keep them from just hiding somewhere and end it, but I think this might be fun for an alternate mode sometime.

Another interesting mode would be 1 hp mode where you'd die in 1 hit from anyone. BV = best item and Poppy OP? Watch out for minion aggro, too! This might be better for an alternate HA mode as jungling would be impossible.

I wanna see a gamemode where everyone is in the jungle and pushing lanes is much harder.

-everyone deals 10% damage to minions and buildings

-blue and red buff let you deal full damage to minions (not towers)

-dragon let's both teams deal full damage to minions and towers

-baron let's their team deal full damage to minions towers and inhibitors

-minions no longer grant gold but passive gold and gold generated from jungle creatures is tripled

Nah, 1hp sounds lame because the only champion that would work well are those with invincibilities. plus kartus would be OP.

About the nexus one sounds a good one: it respawns like the inhibitor, it allows to rez and all and the enemy team wins only after successfully killing all the enemies. This way you can go in a revenge spree and turn the tide of the game, even if it would be really annoying for those players that have to wait for the nexus to respawn, and annoying for the enemy team to chase down the only survivor for all the whole map ( and if that survivor is a Shaco then you never catch him and he outduels you).

I was thinking in terms of temporary game modes just for fun. That might require disabling a few champs, I grant you.

I actually was NOT thinking of having the nexus respawn, as that seems likely to drag out the game forever. You might need a periodic FOW reveal to keep people from just hiding in the jungle to stall forever. Especially a Shaco or Eve.

I think having the nexus Respawn makes the gamemode actually fun, as it's playing it like exposing the only venerability. One way to shorten the game is to only have the two nexus turret and disable all items. The way it would play is normally but eventually one team destroys the nexus. This starts a minute dash as all of the 'hunted champs' run for their lives and the 'hunters' attempt to seek them out. After a single minute the nexus respawns with the turrets and it starts over. Disabling the items makes it so that after the first nexus blow it's not a ROFL-stomp.

When the nexus respawns, do champs defeated during that period come back? If they do, the game could drag on indefinitely-- sure, there's an increased time limit on it, but the whole mode relies on an ace. I think it might be best to totally remove them from the game. At that point you could either allow leaving with no penalty or give them shared control over minions RTS-style. The latter would make it a little easier to come back from having champs dead, since you can better control what's happening on the map.

I'm just spewing stuff, but you do have a point. I've seen stuff like that in starcraft Arcade though, and once you go down you just leave, even if you do get to control something, and I feel like that cheapens it. So'd you'd have to make a way for dead champs to have the power of a champion just not playing one, so i donno.

On the default Summoner's rift map where travel times are long and organized pushes with minions are often more effective than single-champion backdoors, a final hunt for enemy champions would just be a chore. To make it interesting, the team that has its nexus destroyed must at least have a slight chance of winning the game back. If the winning side's nexus turrets are still up, this would be nearly impossible.

Now if this were a Dominion map game mode where you still have a chance at running around, getting some capture points, and making a difference, then that could potentially make a neat game mode.

I wonder how capture the flag/nexus/gem/Teemo/whatever would go. maybe when carrying the flag you get a movement speed reduction to allow the other team to try and get it back. also you couldn't use teleport with the flag.

Can we have a mode where four teams of 3 are matched against each other. And they play a game that resembles Hungry, Hungry Hippos using minions as the point system and instead of a time showing how long you've played there is a time limit to switch it up to make it more like the original game. There can also be a version where the team that gets the needed amount wins but for the one with the time limit the teams must be pit to see who get the most in the little amount time made. You can kill other players in this mode but it gives no points. It only stalls them, making them go back to the check point after 2 seconds of waiting time. The champs will automatically be at level 18, unless playing in the no time limit mode (the only champion that might have a problem with this is Udyr, given he has 20 points he can receive) and items can be bought. New items can be made just for this and some may be either nerfed for this game mode or taken away. Ah, almost forgot, this will be a blind pick kind of game but with the banning rule as well. Each team captain (randomly chosen or made through gathering friends) can only ban 2 champions. The map area would be best if it were like dominion but with starting points at four different edges. So Crystal Scar might be a good place for this.

What if you were to take away all turrets, increase the HP of the nexus but take away its regen, and lower recall time to 3-4 seconds or something like that. You could also allow people to buy and build walls to protect the nexus, and make the nexus start losing HP at 10 minutes until they reach 1 HP, so people don't just camp the base.

That way it would have the same idea, but wouldn't just feel like a normal league game.

Here's an issue that I'm sure everyone playing dawn of war will remember. Four words: Hunt the webway gate.
