ARSR; or How to Eliminate the Alleged ELO Hell

It's not a grand plan, but I am shooting for the moon in what this idea will "solve."

All Random, Summoners Rift.

Why?

Mostly because it took me a long time to realize that if you want to climb, limit yourself to about 5 to 7 champions and just play them constantly. When I'd first been given that advice I thought "That's legal, but it seems like cheating." To be then (and kinda me now), playing with just a core element wasn't fun. I liked strategy and good strat was rolling with whatever you were dealt. Not playing to strengths and hoping the other team had trolls.

What's the point of this?

If you've ever played strategy card games (Magic, for example) this is akin to a sealed deck tournament. The whole point is "which team is smart and cooperative enough to make this thing work. You know the meta, you know what you've been given, so where do you go from here?

We have Summoners Rift for real, so play that if you want. This is for people who like the feel of ARAM but wish it could be in the usual format.

What about ARAM accounts?

Do to this what they should do to ARAM - make all champs available.

I have long wished for all-random Summoner's Rift. There are many things I enjoy about ARAM, but one of the biggest is that in SR I _should _ always play one of my seven or so best champs, or I'm hurting my team. I would love an all-random SR, and trying to roll with the meta-breaking comps that might result.

So it's ranked SR, but with random champs for everyone? I have a feeling that would just inspire more Elo Hell complaints, such as "The enemy team comp is always so OP while my team comp is trash," or "OMG I can't climb when I get garbage champs every time!"

ARSR works a lot less well than ARAM.

ARAM matches are shorter, so if you get stuck with a champion you dislike or a poor team composition it's not as much of a time sink.

ARAM matches are more 1-dimensional -- you basically just build to skirmish/teamfight, and most champions can do that to some degree. On SR if you get 5 champs who are bad at farming/pushing against a team with strong waveclear you're going to slowly get overrun. Or you might not get anyone who can reasonably jungle, which is a big disadvantage.
