Every since I first played 
I thought he was a "Cosmic" champion. Why did I think that? Well, he could teleport cross the map and has "Eye of Twilight" as his title. Whenever I read his title, the first thing that pops into my head is; constellations, champion from space. I always wanted him to be a "Galactic Ninja"

I've thought of Shen similarly but as part of a hidden/forgotten faction between the Solari (sun) and Lunari (moon). Shen would be one of the stars in the twilight.
