Instead of just adding an "opt out" button?
It was nice knowing what everyone was picking while I was alt-tabbed. Plus, if you have never owned or played a champ, that can be the ONLY time you ever hear its voice.

Hey dudes, we removed these from champ select. The issue was we had overloaded champ select with too many sound effects, making it hard to tell when key things were actually going on - like when it was your turn to pick. You'll still hear your own champ when you lock them in. The upside of this is that since the recent patch we're seeing some of the lowest dodge rates ever.
I really would like to see the quotes come back at the very least as a toggle. Hearing the quotes really aided in the narrative/world building for that match. Most people play a small set of champions with any regularity. We don't often get to hear the voice overs of the other champions and it is often a treat. Hearing the voice overs of "Tonight We Hunt!" followed by "Feel the Thorns Embrace" gives me a sense of where the other team comes from. It anchors the match with a sense of place and not just it being a contrived something from nothing.
To put it concisely, League with the broadcasted champion select quotes is much closer in immersion to the "A New Dawn" cinematic than a League without them! If reaching that level of immersion is your goal -- then these broadcasted quotes need to come back.
I noticed this when i was playing last night. Felt sad when the enemy team picked Jhin and i missed his sultry voice :(
I almost always just mute my pc when champ select is happening so I don't have to hear that.
I really hope it's a bug, I liked hearing all of the quotes.
That said, I wouldn't be opposed to an option to turn them off. I'd never use it, but for people that don't like it, it'd be nice for them.
Wow that was such a cool feature why would they turn it off. Whoever the guys are on that team they are soooo backwards. They remove a really cool feature that makes every pick in the game stand out and seem like a really cool champ. Like everyone picked a badass. But they remove it cause they thought it's confusing people into dodging. This leads to the main issue. They don't realize the biggest problem causing these dodges is the stupid incredibly backwards decision to force people to lock bans and picks. I've seen so many dodges and dodged many times because of it myself completely ruining 30min of fun that my party had to wait. We played rocket league instead. Remove the dumb forcing people to lock bans and picks, and add in the pick voices, and also add death voices or some kinda voices for the banned champs.
How about leaving an option for us to choose?
