Sona

Mute

No one would adopt her because she was mute

Only finally had attention because of some magic item, which basically just made her more depressed

Currently has no actual lore and is the official most depressing champion because she WAS depressed until she joined the LEague of Legends....which doesn't exist in Lore currently.

So basically poor Sona is just wandering around playing her magic instrument all depressed. Thanks Riot <_<

Azir while he is kinda full of himself,he geniunly wanted only the best for his country. He got betrayed by his best friend(even worse, said betrayal happened after he freed Xerath and all the slaves),his wife died, his children died and his whole kingdom got destroyed.

I think Renekton is up there (or Nasus if you care about point of view).

Sacrificed himself (not the death kind either) to try and keep Xerath at bay. Stuck alone with him for a thousand years, unable to kill him and Xerath won't kill him back. When he gets out he's nothing more than a savage monster, a mere shell of what he once was (kinda like Sion).

And Nasus can do nothing about it. He can't return his brother to what he once was. He lived a thousand years with regret for having to lock him away. The only mercy he can give is death. Can you imagine having to personally kill someone you dearly loved? Most people can't even consider killing.

Xerath hits it hard: "Thank you for your brother."

Rumble Cause it's just sad when you really read into it. Obviously Amumu is really really sad but i wanted to be different lol. But with Rumble he is a wimpy yordle who gets beat up alot and has like no friends other than Tristana and Ziggs . As we all know Ziggs moved to Piltover away so that leaves Tristana I suppose.

Diana and Morgana both have it pretty rough, but since Diana's been mentioned I'll discuss Morgana.

Morgana really did start out doing what she thought was the Right Thing in trying to free what she viewed as an oppressed people, and by many standards she was - She didn't force her views on anyone, she instead politely asked her sister Kayle for support and Kayle responded by massively overreacting and essentially disowning her. As Morgana got more and more wrapped up in her cause she came to trade blows with her sister more and more, and had to seek out ever-darker places and more corrupt magic just to keep her head above water in the conflict between them. And it never got her anywhere.

Morgana has sacrificed everything in the name of a good cause - She's given up her family, her people, her friends, her ethics, her morals, her happiness, and essentially her soul, to try to win this fight with Kayle. And the original reason she wanted to fight, that good cause she initially had, is totally lost to her now. She doesn't care about it. All that matters now is beating Kayle. And despite having given up everything, she's still failing - Kayle is not only alive and well, but she's become the good guy.

Morgana sacrificed everything she had for a noble cause and not only failed but wound up becoming the villain herself, and she's too consumed by hate to realize it. Ouch.

I'd say Orianna or Rammus. Ori for the fact the original Orianna died, and it was about a father's grief for a lost child. (which losing someone you love dearly is pretty hard on yourself you gotta cope with it some how. And he created a robot that doesn't know why she's feared.) Rammus is kinda a topper because he wandered alone for god knows how long before someone found him. Even then it doesn't confirm in his lore that he actually stayed at summoner's rift, because he can roam like the wild jungle AD murder he is.

Behind that smile, behind that laugh, is a sad, sad soul.

Meep Man9/10/2015, 8:41:00 PM1 votes

Amumu Gnar MasterYi Orianna

Amumu is cursed to never be able to be near anyone since it will dissolve their skin. He knows nothing of his past like, only vague memories and is for no reason (except the curse) overcome with sadness, even before discovering the curse. Gnar had his entire family killed in front of him as a child before being frozen. Then he wakes up centuries later with no idea what is going on. Master Yi's entire village was bombarded by Singed's chemicals, killing his family and friends in the most horrific ways possible. Orianna was originally a young girl who wanted to become a champion. Her father took her out to train since she was sure she wanted to, but she was shot by a turret and killed. Her father made a machine so he could have his daughter back.

Orianna's is pretty bad, but I think Amumu's takes the cake and Gnar's being a close second with Orianna.

Maokai

Basically he was a nice little tree spirit and then got corrupted due to the folly of man. Is now a dark and twisted shadow of his former self. An abomination in the Shadow Isles, saturated with the "forces of life & death"

For me, Maokai wins not so much for his lore, but all of his VO lines.

*"They will know my remorse." * *"Torment me no longer!" * *"This life was not meant to be." * *"I once had peace." * "Return me to the forest"

*"I would end this burden, but it always returns." * Yeah, Maokai is basically anguish-bordering-on-suicidal.

To me, it's this guy: Yorick

Left with the unending regret of unintentionally ending his family line (Mori) and cursed to dig tirelessly in unlife until he fulfills an uncertain but almost infinite quota of burying the dead in the Shadow Isles, I'd have to say this guy ranks pretty high in the "people f***ed over by circumstances" list.

Sion

Once the greatest hero of Noxus, this symbol of Noxian strength and courage's soul was stirred from its rest and forced into his decayed body, and now lives a mindless existence of perpetual slaughter, barely aware of his hollow existence save his few moments of coherence when not in combat.

"Why do I feel... nothing?"

I would say Lux and Orianna. Lux's reflection shows there is a lot more going on underneath the surface And Orianna's lore has her die trying to do what she loved. Out of grief her father replicates her into the killing machine she is. Even her friends and rivals have a lot to say about her (Ex: Viktor is human trying to become a robot, Orianna is a robot trying to be human.

Are we talking about the champions that are actually sad, or that we feel sad for?

Amumu, for example, is definitely one of the saddest characters... but I find Diana to be far more pitiable. I mean, come on! She was betrayed by everyone she knew, the person she loves is trying to kill her (and she her), and she's been partially brainwashed (possessed?) by a vengeful deity. That's just all kinds of suck, right there.

Really, though, you could go through the whole list and be hard pressed to find a champion that isn't a full-time member on the trauma conga line.

Morgana Beautiful and kind, she stood up against the genocide of many races and was exiled for it..... Zilean uses magic to try finding a peaceful ends to violence but ends up wrecking himself Malzahar A young man that had a gift that could have helped the world, corrupted by a force unseen and now serves said force Lux A child soldier because of her amazing gift Xerath his old lore :( a man that in did no wrong intentionally, lost everything (i will never accept the new lore for xerath) Rammus gains sentience and is now lost in the world

Ezreal lore is the saddest... Due the fact that it was changed from this:

Ezreal was born with the gift of magic flowing through his veins. Ezreal, however, was also born with a much stronger sense of wanderlust. Put into school to become a skilled techmaturgist, Ezreal quickly became bored with magical studies. By the time the boy genius was eight years old, he had fully mapped out the underground tunnels of Piltover. The quality of his work was so great that the government of Piltover purchased his maps and salaried his services as Piltover's Grandmaster Explorer. This sealed the deal on Ezreal's path in life - he would eschew the arcane arts in favor of archaeology. Since then, countless of Ezreal's adventures have been written about as romanticized stories.

One of Ezreal's latest adventures, however, has brought him face-to-face with his other legacy - his latent magical power. While exploring the pyramids of Shurima Desert, Ezreal uncovered an amulet of incredible power. Aside from the sheer size of the amulet (it was made for a being easily twice Ezreal's size), it allows the wielder to control and shape magical energy - provided a source of magic is in the vicinity. This allowed Ezreal to tap into his natural talent for magic without having to put any serious effort into it - a big win for the Prodigal Explorer. The drawback is that for some unknown reason, the amulet is attuned with summoning magic. Without warning, Ezreal may find himself acting as a champion for, as he puts it, a summoner hell-bent on resolving some irrelevant world-shattering League conflict. Still, Ezreal feels being summoned into a Field of Justice on occasion is a small price to pay.

"There's little time to study musty tomes when you're busy crawling around where the musty tomes originally came from." -- Such is Ezreal's credo.

To this:

The intrepid young adventurer Ezreal has explored some of the most remote and abandoned locations on Runeterra. During an expedition to the buried ruins of ancient Shurima, he recovered an amulet of incredible mystical power. Likely constructed to be worn by one of the Ascended, the enormous talisman nonetheless fit snugly upon his arm, amplifying his raw sorcerous skill to such an extent that he's gained the reputation of a hero, much to his embarrassment.

Kalista Treacherously murdered by those she trusted the most, while trying to stop the shadow isles from becoming the land of death. Now she's a hateful spirit who can't really remember much of why she was betrayed in the first place(thanks to the Shadow Isles necromantic power)

How can you not feel for her?

Poppy. She had her father killed by Talon and Katarina just trying to deliver a helm to a demacian General. Poppy was a daddy's girl and all she got was to be a Bandle City Ambassador.

Soon it will be something like: This little yo'dle like, is fat and stocky. She's got a hammer, we believe her identity is a tank so she defends Bandle City. This way, we get rid of Tanky Mage Assassins. Long Live Yasuo.
