A question about Ascension from Xerath update lore

We know that Xerath is special ascendant because he didn't grant it, he took it. But it is also correct for Renekton too. Xerath learns that Renekton also ascended without deserving. But they have too much difference, Renekton is more like Nasus and Azir. What is the results of Ascension without deserving? Why do you get more powerful without deserving it? What does punish you?

Renekton probably didn't deserve it because Sun Pristesses can see the future, in direct or indirect way.

Xerath already had astounding power before and he forced the Sun Priests to continue the ritual until his own flesh dissolved I think that would be the reason he is stronger than the other Ascended

Renekton did deserve it. What you're getting confused is natural qualifiers and situational happenings.

Renekton didn't have the qualifications (from the Sunpriests), but he was granted ascension, so the ritual was made with him in mind.

Xerath STOLE the ascension. What made it bad was that the ritual was designed to work for Azir. ANYBODY who would interfere and take the power would have caused the explosion. If the ritual was intended for Xerath and not Azir, then it wouldn't have caused such an influx of power to decimate the city.

i believe that renekton not deserving is meant more like he wasnt chosen by the sun whereas xerath literally stole the power meant for azir, and upon reawakening the sun chose to finish azir's ascension

It says that Renekton wasn't chosen by the sun priests, not that it wasn't granted to him.

I assume that Ascension was granted to Renekton(like it was to Azir, without the help of the sun priests),while Nasus was chosen for the ritual.
