When do you feel a skin series goes on too long/becomes bloated?

This is something that was brought up during my Candidate series and the more I thought about it, the more I wondered "when does a series feel like it becomes bloated?"

Just look over some of the most popular skin lines right now that have been running for a while: PROJECT, Blood Moon, Pool Party, Arcade, etc. There are easily over 10 skins in each series, hell if we count Snowdown (which normally not since it's seasonal) and all of the other winter themed skins it's over 20. So when is it that you feel a series becomes bloated or has run its course and you'd like to see something new? What's the limit of skins in a series before you get sick of it?

Personally I really don't care if a series goes on too long, like Pool Party for example, because there are plenty of ideas for champions to fit in that series and I'd like to see them, though some series, like Star Guardian I do kind of get sick of seeing after a certain point.

Its not about how many skins are in a skin line rather how often new skins are added to it. The break from the pool party skins last year was much needed, not that I am sick of the skin line. Rather it felt like they would have become a mandatory thing for Riot, especially the way the boards were asking about them when we didn't get any.

That said I look forward to new Pool party skin this year or whatever Riot has in store for us, mid-season time around. Fingers crossed for 6 VGU's starting this year.

Just because you don't like Star Guardians, doesn't make it bloated. It's a wildly popular line, with so much more potential considering how deep the inspirational material pool is.

I don't believe any skin line will ever get bloated because there's always potential somewhere to make them fit. They are beginning to create thriving worlds within skin lines, and that will only add to things that people love about this game.

Once the skin line has every champion who could be reasonably added, it is complete, and any further additions would become bloat.

As a critic of bloating skin lines, I feel when you get to 10 and above it is bloating. Part of what makes skin lines appealing is their unique flair on a champion. If more and more champs are included in a skin line, it begins to strip away unique appearance and appeal. Furthermore, some champions already have issues with getting skins because of their model, and spell effects, and as Riot looks to expand X skinline, often those trouble champs won't fit the theme well. That means resources are diverted into something that delays skins for those champs and leads to more disappointed mains. As the champion list sits about 130+, if there are 13-15 champs in a skin line that is 1/10th of the roster. There is no need for more than that number to be included in skin line. I'm not as opposed to connected skin lines, such as Arcade and Battle Boss. Doing the villains of Star Guardians would be welcome over five more magic girls. Illaoi and an Insurgent line to oppose Creator and Battlecast would be better.

By capping skin lines, they can broaden their creative output and make a greater variety, which as we all know is the spice of life. If they just keep adding to akin lines, it becomes stale and shouldn't be promoted.

Honestly, the thing about project is that it did get bloated. That is why they changed some things and gave more detail in the background.

Vi, Vayne, and Jhin weren't just experiments that escaped. Vayne, at the least, is a human who modded herself so much that she became corrupted.

Vi is a cop who REFUSES the mods even though it's completely normal for her job to accept the bit of tech to handle criminals and the like.

Jhin...I don't know what he fuck he is.

With that being said, the last group of projects "The Hunters" have little direct ties with the first 2 waves that appeared. If anything, Vayne and Vi might stumble across the others PURELY because they both are/were police officers and what's going on is DEFINITELY illegal.

__

For Blood Moon, they completely rewrote the story overall from some play or myth to an actual blood cult.

Zilean is the face TF is the true leader behind the scenes Jhin is the holder of all the knowledge and divine/esoteric secrets.

Then we got guardians like Shen and Yas with Shen being an actual bodyguard and Yas as executioner.

Elise, Diana Akali(they still need to rewrite her) are priestesses who come and go every now and again.

Everyone else...demons. They weren't strong enough to withstand the demonic corruption and became monsters themselves.

For Star Guardian to continue, they have to do some kind of story where the next batch have actual enemies they're going to have to fight (or just plain out survive)

Arcade survives because of the differentiation between "Arcade" and "Battle Boss."

And pool party? Well...they don't hit that every year, now do they?

I honestly like small skin lines. Star guardian is hella bloated, but I feel bad saying that since SG Soraka is one of my favorite skins in the game. [sg-soraka]
