Something readers don't give enough attention about the Watchers...

Invasion of the Watchers didn't work flawlessly.

As some enterprising Watchers openned a rift to the universe, they went through the rift and they felt pain, time and heat in the Void. But something happened, during travelling between dimensions, rift is closed. They did not know the reason, but they were certain they are betrayed. They again felt cold and became lost in dimensions, frozen in time.

What was the reason? Why would they betray each other? Why would they close the Rift?

The exact quote is

The boldest of them tore open the veil and hurled themselves upward, only to be horribly disoriented by the sudden shift between the abyss and the corporeal, linear nature of reality. In an instant, there was time, and heat, and pain...

Then there was only cold. The way was shut, and dozens of the Watchers were trapped in the liminal space between two realms, frozen in the moment of transition.

Those that remained in the Void recoiled. They had no concept of what had happened, yet they knew they had been betrayed.

I'm pretty certain this describes Lissandra betraying the Watchers and trapping them in True Ice while they were trying to invade Runeterra.

I feel that this was actually Lissandra's doing. She took power from the Watchers and was planning to release them to attain such power.

But she realized how bad of an idea it is. The rift that got closed, the cold that occurred as they were frozen in time...that was Lissandra using true ice to put them into cryogenic sleep
