Kayle's archetype is misunderstood and here is why

Overreaction on reversed moralities of twin sisters and that how their themes clash and contradict are just ignorant analyzes of what they were meant to be.

First. Let's star with Kayle. Our divine justicar, an angel knight archetype carrier shaped and made more unique in LoL universe. Kayle uses holy light to punish the evil. Hmm... Does it ever sound familiar? Angel. Holy. Punishment.

Yes. Christanity.

Church and their actions upon the "evil" were so bad that they arent even questionable unlike Kayle actually. Holy light with shinning gold armor combined with clean bird wings doesn't make someone SAINT.

Kayle is also a representation of how having benevolent thoughts dont make you perfect. She is dilueted church that still has her moral strengths. She is flawed obviously but she is trying her best. And since it is just beginning of her story, give her enough time to develop. Bios are emotionless and they are not written to tell everything.

Lastly for Kayle, If you were looking for her to be goodness incarnate, you are already wrong since the beginning. Because she wasn't either in her old lore. They stayed LOYAL to her personality, they just made it in an actual piece of lore unlike as the almost non-existing backstory.

(Cant go without saying, keep in mind, non-existing backstory may opened doors for headcanons for so long that you might shaped a Kayle in your head that actually doesn't exist and accept it. A possibility you know.)

Morgana though... She is a little bit tricky. I agree for now that she looks too benevolent she makes her sister worse than actually she is. But according to her writer she is bitter and merciless in certain moments. She has flaws, just bio wasn't obvious enough to give it to reader.

Also Morgana, or better I should say, the readers, suffer from sympathezing freedom seekers so easily. Morgana uses a theme that gives reasons for flaws, and with that reasons people ignore the flaws... Doesn't mean they are justified. Look at killing Ronas.

I think writers are doing magnificent job right now and before witchhunting the lore, I would wait content coming soon a bit more! We haven't even heard their VO's yet. Kayle could be more sympathetic, Morgana could be more sinister. While listening their trailer, Morgana did not sound like an actual angel to me you know. (Perspectiveee....)

Oh lordy.

So the depiction of Kayle as a genocidal zealot, as opposed to a zealot who tries to offer mercy when the chance arises, is okay because it echoes your dubious understanding of a religion's history?

Akali has the worst personality and lore, I swear if I wanted to play an edgy champion I'd play Kayn and Zed. Those two do it right, this champion quotes and shit are fucking cringy.

So you are saying that it's fine to treat Kayle like a tool to accuse the christian church of their ancient wrong doings?

Can't wait for Riot to write about radical islam treating women like garbage, and China exploiting their ppl under the communist regime then.

THANK YOU

It was never stated that Kayle was kind or merciful. Even though she was aware of the ugly state of justice, she still continued her path instead of trying to change it. She was heavily rooted in Christian theme of judgement, valor and smiting, but now the lore is getting rid of any real-world allusions (religions in particular) and goes on to be its own thing. Angel-like race became redundant as much as Taric's "guest from another dimension" bio.

And Morgana is still essentially a loner who lost her followers, people she cared about because of Kayle. However letting her remain openly bitter throughout centuries would turn her into Renekton 2.0, so they gave her personality some extra layers. Her famous phrase "Feel my pain" didn't really explain anything. However now it is more meaningful.

Kayle in old lore was a lawful extremist. Kayle in the new lore is a lawful extremist that wants to remove her emotional bias.

I would guess that people are being thrown off because the last emotional thing that happened was Kayle and Moragna's father being killed. This leads them to believe Kayle wishes to become emotionally detached so that things like her father don't effect her.

However that is short sighted as just a couple paragraphs ago Kayle flips out, and almost just starts killing people, because Rotan was killed. All the colateral damage that occured across the entire city was Kayle's fault for her emotional attachment to Rotan.

If Rotan would have been killed somewhere without Morgana would Kayle have burned an entire city of innocents in revenge? Perhaps that's the question that drove her to mount Targon to seek "celestial clarity".

Ah yes, let's also ignore when people burned christians when was bit dark or cold or when they fed them to the dogs.
