I have had 3+ people on the boards call me a "silver" because they thought my plat icon was silver.

Why is this not being fixed? Why is Riot intentionally ignoring it? Why can't you just move the color slider from gray to green?

This is a REALLY shitty version I did in like 2 seconds. Yes, I know it's too green, but if an actual artist spent 30-60 seconds on it, I'm sure they could figure it out. Why can't it look more like this?

Just to clarify - I'm not the artist here, just the messenger. ^-^

Like most of the content we work on, liking/disliking something is subjective. If you don't like it, that's your personal decision, and you may choose not to use the icon, and that's totally fine.

In this case, the team working on the icons felt this was the direction the icon should go in, resulting in what was given out a a result of reaching plat last season.

With most content, we don't change it once it goes live because players have likely become attached to it. Content on live is usually final, unless there is a game breaking bug, or a result of a champion update.

In terms of attachment, this is why we don't make skins for champions who are receiving an update. We don't want players to become attached to something that could drastically change.

What if they are diamond and ranked higher than me?

They haven't necessarily lost the argument by insulting my rank at that point. "Oh you're plat, not silver? You're still bad."

I think you've lost an argument if you're bringing up stats that don't even have anything to do with the topic at hand.

It's like calling someone fat in an argument. Unless you're talking about diet and workout routines, it does nothing to further the conversation. It's just an insult that means nothing.

Fun fact: Platinum and silver are very hard to distinguish in real life just by their looks, and if you want to be annoying about it, platinum is actually duller and less shiny than silver is.

The problem is I EARNED the icon, and it's such a piece of garbage that a lot of people see it as silver at first glance.

I don't WANT to be seen as a silver. I earned plat.

I was silver for the longest time and it never happened to me :P Maybe you're just not articulating your points correctly or people are simply pushed into a corner and resort to rank shaming.

Barely happens to me, but I also doublecheck myself for research first. Truth shouldn't be different just because a beggar said it instead of a lawyer (assuming they're saying the same thing without altering it); however that's just a flaw with society that bleeds into gaming communities. Life is already too serious, besides more experienced players think wildcards to be the most dangerous; a subtle tool in psychological combat.

Silver is slightly lighter gray with a blue gem in the center (instead of the green one plat has).

personally i liked the blue gem on the silver icon better, it had more "presence" then the sickly green gem on the plat icon. In fact i thought that gold and challenger came out with the best/most colorful icons. However compared to years before, while more original, i thought that the icons this year (including the ward) were lackluster. They just lacked color and felt bland, hopefully next year there will be an improvement? Not to blame Riot's artists, sometimes designs just don't click with the community, they'll surely take this into account and use it to improve in the future.
