Hey, so whoever composes for Riot, I have some questions for you!
Can't help but feel silly writing this, but anyway; it's always been a dream of mine (like, ever since I was 2-3 years old playing Zelda and Mario) to compose music that has life and feeling to it, rather than the rather flat music we get a lot of the time in video games and whatnot these days. Almost every Nintendo game I've played, the music actually gets me to tear up sometimes if I turn it up and lose myself in it (weird, I know), and League's music sometimes does that as well -- some of the themes are just done so well.
So, basically, I was just wondering what kind of hoops you have to jump through in order to actually land a job as a composer (and a writer, artist, etc., but that's another post/story), and what tips, if any, you have for composing in general. I play eight instruments, and I like to think I have an ear for it all, but I don't know the tools to use (and obviously don't have an orchestra to perform anything for me, so I'd have to record myself several times over) or where to begin.
So, Mr. Riot Composer(s) (I think there are three of you?), what's it take to get into composing? If you know anything about it, what's it take to get into writing, concept design and all that? :3
(Still feel silly talking about all this, but hey, everyone has different goals and dreams in life, right?)
Thanks. ^^
(And anyone else is welcome to chime in too -- Riot isn't the only company in the world, and there are tons of composers out there.)
