Gameplay =/= Lore.
Earplugs.
soraka. same ult but heals allies.
Probably garen or galio. Garen could use his petricite sword to metallize karthus at the source, or galio could step on him.
Even from the gameplay perspective, his ultimate does not affect everyone, only 5 or 6 people.
