Which Xerath is the most powerful lore-wise?

Old Xerath was obsessed with power and even could give his life for it that has a little chance. For this purpose he casted a spell that can transform into a extremely powerful arcane being, destroyed entire Shurima and then get imprisoned by the most powerful mages of Shurima. Shattered his sarcophagus in millennium.

New Xerath still has a interest on power but not much like as old one. It's more like shared with freedom. He reached the ancient transforming to ascended scrolls, made it up better for himself and stole this power from his emperor for revenge. He caused a tragedy like Old Xerath, destroyed entire Shurima. After a short moment legend brothers of Shurima came for fixing the problem they got, imprisoned Xerath in a magical sarcophagus while he was naive to his powers and shocked by becoming a nearly god entity from a fragile human. He shattered this sarchophagus in a little short moment compare to old Xerath. (Dont forget it is probably made by 2 ascendeds, not a human mage thing.) Fought with 2 ascendeds that are from his kind, still couldn't get defeated. For this, he got prisoned even more in Tomb of the Emperors with Renekton.

Old Xerath would not be content with his present power/knowledge. New Xerath doesn't care about his power at all, so long as nothing stands in the way of him being "free".

Old Xerath was a stronger character, and I think the more powerful of the two. Even if his power level at the "present" in lore is weaker, he'd still end up reaching greater heights than the new Xerath.

Old Xerath he was arcane power incarnate but the chains limited his powers.

Old, he was in a weakened state as we knew him but once he regained himself and got rid of that prison he'd be unlimited. He learned magic quicker, saw the fabric of creation, and other God like things. He was the arcane that flowed. I'd consider old a world breaker once he got going.

New is just some shitty demi-god like being.

In the end we can't be sure. in the case of new Xerath its never been specified just how powerful he'd be if he was able to get free, while old Xerath was pretty much said to be omnipotent once he gets free.

However if we compare them in their bound forms, then new xerath seems more impressive, since he was able to break the sarcophagus instantly and fought against 2 ascended(and one of them had to sacrifice himself to seal xerath) instead of fighting against some unnamed mages.

New Xerath is just an Ascended. A very powerful one capable of matching Renekton and Nasus, yes, but just an Ascended nonethless.
