I need to go through this point by point for the sake of my own sanity, so I will.
Why do you keep reworking old champions to not be straight?
As if this is a thing that keeps happening consistently when it's happened exactly once.
Like, I understand your inherent feminist need to add more diversity to the game. You could do that by adding NEW champions to the game and making them gay instead!
Let's be real, folks would complain about diversity being added regardless of it was champs being changed or added as new characters. The argument stands; you only added them to fill a quota, rather than because you actually wanted it.
I get that giving Zoe some sort of sexuality might have gotten you into some trouble (in America, not really anywhere else), but Ornn was begging for it!
I mean they already did; she has a crush on Ez. That implies her being of a sexuality where she finds lads attractive, be it straight, bi, pan or whatever.
Ornn's a demigod who likes to be alone. How was he "beggining" for his sexuallity to be referenced? Him having a vested interest in just about anyone in a sexual manner seems like it'd go so far out of his character archetype it'd be weird. Plus beings like him are folks he considers his siblings, so he's not gonna hit it off with Anivia, and as far as we can see he's not exactly gonna be having a steady relationship with any Freljordian humans since he's like forty times their size. He doesn't seem like the type who'd have ever loved, considering how work focused and uninterested in things that aren't work he is.
Kayn is basically an angsty, needy femboy already! "Rhaast, no!" "Let me inside you, Kayn!" "No, that's reserved for Zed!!!!!" Camille could have been some man-hating lesbian! "What do you get when you meet me in a dark alley? If you're a MAN, eviscerated!"
Well I mean that's one way of looking at Kayn, rather than him respecting a man who raised him to be the man he is today. And with that interpretation of Camille her entire narrative would have to be thrown out the window considering how the course of her life went and how it affected her. Plus why would she hate men? It's not like she lives in a patriarchy like Demacia.
Why did you have to change Varus and Taric? Because their classic skins look slightly purple? Really?
They changed Varus because they wanted to, and Taric's barely changed. In fact, as far as anyone's concerned, Taric's sexuallity has never been stated, ever.
I loved the old Taric! He loved gems! I loved gems! Now he doesn't really care about gems! He cares about innuendos about gems! Balls!!!! I kinda accepted this, thankfully, because it's NEVER mentioned again. I heard that Riot admitted Taric was gay in his old lore of something. Sure. If they have to admit it once it's too late, you know they're just trying to save face.
Dunno where you got your info about Riot admitting to Taric being gay in the old lore, so please source since I'd like to see for myself. Regardless Taric liked gems, and everything about his old sexuallity was pretty much implied from the community and then made in to a joke. A pretty shite joke all things considered since we pegged him with a horrid gay stereotype of a personallity. Either way, never explicitly stated so what's your beef? You're implying from something that doesn't exist as far as anyone outside of Riot knows.
And then I start reading that comic about Varus's new lore. One page in, and I'm thinking, "This is pretty nice!" I flip the page, and it's just, "Wow, this is a nice fire. The perfect fire to do naughty things with my gay lover next to." Like, really? Was that needed? Of course it wasn't! You could have changed Varus to be black instead. You could have said, "Underneath all this purple skin is actually black skin! Hah, take that, you filthy <Paid by Final Spark Lux to not show this>"
They chose a direction for Varus and went with it. It was what they were passionate about and decided to make a proper thing, and give it the attention and care it deserved. For the sake of communicating how important that aspect of Varus's story was, yes that part of the comic was needed. The equivalence to being black holds no water since it's not about ticking a box here; it's about telling a story where love is tested against vengeance. It's shown with the framework of a gay couple against an unloving monster. If you have issue with the method of the telling then fair enough, and there's arguments to be made one way or the other about changing Varus from gay to straight, but if you don't like it simply because of the fact it concerns something that's gay, I can't help you there. You'll have to fix yourself.
What next, are you gonna make genderless people?
I made a joke about Illaoi here last time, but I noticed Varus's lore could have made him kinda genderless if they binded a guy and a girl together instead of two gay guys. I just gotta point that out.
Not a bad idea, having genderless people. I mean technically folks like Bard and Blitz are probably genderless, or in Bard's case a gender not readily applicable to humans since he's a cosmic entity in a sack. Dunno how Blitz feels about his gender, though I guess since in the lore he's addressed as he he thus considers himself male, or whatever male is for a robot.
And no, that Varus point wouldn't work because then Varus would be multi-gender rather than genderless, and that's assuming both the man and woman were straight.
