A case AGAINST Star Guardian Sejuani
So, some of you may have seen Redmercy's most recent video...
In this video, he goes over some supposed leaks, from the next champ being an ADC, Yasuo's brother Yone possibly becoming a champion, and some future skins along with Swain's supposed kit.
My particular focus will be on the part focusing on some skins and Swains kit (around half way in the video). In the photo, we see the possibility of Dragon Master Swain, the prophesied skin of old. We also have a "Vivid Sun Leona" and "Gentle Moon Diana", which kind of reminds me of the versus event we had earlier this year.
And then, we have the next batch of Star Guardian skins. This consists of Taliyah, Evelynn, Zoe, and Caitlyn. Alright, so far so good.
But then we have Star Guardian Sejuani..........which, to me, is the perfect example of a champ not fitting the theme of a skin. Why? Allow me to explain.
Now, before I continue, yes, these are leaks from non-official sources, so, all should be taken with more than one grain of salt. In recent memory, really only one leak has been spot on, and that was the one containing Elementalist Lux.......afterwards, every leak has been almost completely false, with only 1 or 2 correct predictions. So, it's very possible and very likely that this skin will never happen.
But, with that said, lets assume for the moment that this leak is 100% true, and talk about why Star Guardian Sejuani just doesn't work.
First off, her character. You can make an argument for about every other (human/oid) female character in the game for being a Star Guardian. Even with the likes of Evelynn, a demon succubus whose only intent is to lure her targets in by sexually attracting them, and eventually ripping them to shreds.......literally. If they were able to make Syndra and Jinx work as Star Guardians, they can make Evelynn work.......somehow.
But Sejuani can't work because everything she stands for goes against what the Star Guardians stand for. Sejuani wants war, wants to hear the crunch of her enemies bones under Bristle's feet, she wants to charge in recklessly and start popping heads with her flail. The Star Guardians, on the other hand, don't really want to fight, instead they're forced into their position (something we see evident with Jinx). And while a few of them may find some enjoyment in bringing bad guys down, I'm a certain a good portion of them would much rather live a normal life, especially with the horrors they see.
Sejuani simply isn't like that. While, yes, she would be protective of her own kind from aliens, she would much rather do it alone or with her trusted allies than work with people that look like pixies to her. Get what I'm saying?
My second point is Bristles. Exactly what the hell is she going to be? Don't try to come in here and convince me that those "pals" the Star Guardians have would transform into something like Bristles. See, Snow Day Sejuani works because its meant to be a funny skin, and in fact, Sejuani may find it hilarious to be popping heads with a god damned lolipop, all while riding a poro. On the contary, she would find it humilating to be riding a fairy.
Also, Star Guardians can fly. Sejuani has no reason to fly because of Bristles, yet, due to the nature of the enemies that the Star Guardians face, they need to fly. You honestly think Sejuani would hop on the back of a giant flying fairy..........thing? I sure as hell don't.
So yeah, due to these reasons, not only is this skin a bad idea, but I also highly doubt that it's prediction is accurate. And Riot, I know you can't comment on the likes of a leak unless its completely false, so, if the leak is somewhat true, I would recommend to reconsider your options. Hell, try Karma. She was one of the original champs to be suggested for this skin line, and is a FAR greater fit for the theme. Not only that, but you would have a functioning team released! (Top - Karma; Jng - Eve; Mid - Taliyah; ADC - Cait; Supp - Zoe)
