Varus' clothes (except for his silly scarf) seem to all be made of pure evil magic goop.
I say pure evil, but it was at least nice enough to cover his butt.
In a manner, yes. I think they're supposed to be pants made out of pure corruption. Kind of weird when you think about it, cool when you don't.
