Unmatched in both his skill with unique armaments and his biting sarcasm, Jax is the last known weapons master of Icathia. After his homeland was laid low by its own hubris in unleashing the Void, Jax and his kind vowed to protect what little remained. As magic now rises in the world, this slumbering threat stirs once more, and Jax roams Valoran, wielding the last light of Icathia and testing all warriors he meets to see if any are strong enough to stand beside him...

So, I really like Jax's new color story and his bio, but something different that I ave to notice is the name of Jax's lamppost. Or rather "the Last Light of Icathia." In the Original Lore, Jax was, somehow, the so OP that whatever team he was on won. So the League banned hm from using weapons. Jax, being a badass, picks up a lamppost and uses that instead.

Now, the whole lamppost thing isn't that important, but I really, really like it. So I really hope that Jax just picked it up back in Icathian. Something like "Jax refuses to give his enemies the honor of dying to an actual weapon." Jax has been and always will be a bit of a narrsisits. Not like Draven or Sol, but more laid back and self-confident. Persoanlly, the fact that he an fight with a lamppost, something that by all rights shouldn't be used as a weapon, shows his natural skill with weapons, a sense of humor, and a little sense of honor.

While I will admit it can be a special weapon, it's not really THAT important to Jax's character. I think it helps to inform us about his personality a little more.

Other than that, I really like his lore direction. He keeps his old personality, has a goal and fits into the new lore better than other champions who have had their lores revitalized. Kudos to whoever wrote it. You've kept the sprirt of Jax while also making him to fit in better.

What do you guys think, should the Last Light of Icathia be a special weapon? Or Jax giving himself a 'handicap'?

It's not an item called the Last Light of Icathia. This is one of our writers making a pun - it is, as some people have suggested already, a metaphorical light from a place long lost to darkness. ALSO JAX HAS LAMP POST LOL.

I mean, it could literally be the last lamp post from Icathia, sure. But it's just a lamp post.

It should just be a lamppost. "Imagine if I had a REAL weapon," is literally Jax's most iconic line.

I think it's probably just a regular lamppost from his hometown, but even that kind of betrays the point because that means it has sentimental value to him and can't really be replaced despite the fact that a lamppost would be irreparably damaged from combat. I always thought that every time a lamppost was broken or bent out of shape he would just go steal another one (or some other random hunk of metal he could use to smack people with)

I haven't even read this new lore and I had no idea it existed. Definitely not happy about it since, like you said, Jax's whole thing was being so goddamn good at fighting that he was banned from using real weapons and decided to use a random assortment of items throughout his skins (even Nemesis Jax's weapon is apparently a toy).

"Imagine if I had a real weapon" is literally the champ's most iconic line, maybe even one of the most iconic lines in the game.

I guess they added it because there are so many godlike champions, like Aurelion Sol and Zoe, that a lamppost doesn't really do anymore. Still, the ridiculousness of it was what made the character so great.

... Well... the last light of Icathia IS a lamp post, sure, "last light of Icathia" can be understand as an icon of the "last person from Icathia that still lives"... but it doesnt mean that the lamp post still a simple lamp post without special powers. It just happens that the lamp post was from Icathia.

If you read the lore it says "the last light of Icathia", not "The Last Light of Icathia"... since is not in capps, it means that the lamp post is literally the last light post of Icathia... not the name of a magical weapon with super powers.

Alright, what if, he's just so feared that the lamp-post was given this legend of being a powerful item, but, is just actually a lamp-post.

Jax deserves a fucking VU, He is an egg plant in-game. I would play the shit out of Jax everyday but his in-game model is just so fucking bad, shame. I really love Jax's voice & voice lines, He is simply amazing & powerful. (All hail the lampost)
