Any idea when the next monster champion is gonna be?

This is mainly a light jab at people commenting "but we got Yuumi" to another guy's thread, when obviously a regular animal that doesn't even look as fantasy-like as the jungle mobs (and really had no business not just being a yordle) isn't what they were talking about. Hence, the thread title mimics theirs.

That said, there is a point to be made about the fact the last time we had a monster was Ornn, a week shy of exactly two years ago. Even the most recent Void champion was a human.

It makes sense, though. The story is mostly driven by humans and humanoids. Hell, the last monster, Rek'sai, flopped horribly as far as popularity is concerned. Probably because it makes little sense to include what is basically just an animal in the story as a "champion", and pass off not having to do voice lines as a feature. (Not including Tahm because a fish that dapper isn't a monster)

Maybe we could get a Watcher, their designs are quite monstuous in a way, hope we'll get them at some point.

Well Reav3 just said there is a non-human in the early stages of development, so we'll probably see them sometime next year if they don't get iceboxed.

Though we have to remember that "non-human" and "non-humanoid" are 2 very different things.

Non-human I assume means stuff like Vastaya, Yordles, Ascended. Things that can still be considered humanoid in appearance. So Ornn would be considered a non-human, as he is a Demi-God that appears as an anthropomorphic ram, which makes him humanoid in appearance.

Non-humanoid I assume means, well, non-humanoid. They are not recognizable as something that resembles a human when compared to a human. So Yuumi would be a non-humanoid, as she is just a cat, not anthropomorphic in appearance and not resembling a human in any way.

So it could still be a "monster." It just wouldn't be an abstract Void abomination style monster.
