Is olaf literally unkillable?

The Shadow Isles are the exact opposite of having a good, restful death.

Olaf isn't unkillable. He's just too good as a warrior. And also, the prophecy foretells him passing peacefully in his sleep of old age. He wants an honorable death and there's nothing honorable in having his soul ripped from his body to be tortured by Thresh

Pretty much this for the most part.

It is just a Viking thing of old that they want to die honorably (think Klingons from Star Trek for those of you that care about that and don't know viking lore/mythology etc).

The worst fear of a viking warrior was to grow too old to fight, and die a grey haired old man, passing peacefully in his sleep clutching a blanket rather than a weapon. To die in battle means you go to Valhalla (most likely, but won't go into all of that), and is a rather big deal as far as their beliefs went (likely that flavor is in Olaf's lore as well though not expressed as bluntly).

They want to literally go down swinging in an honorable fight. Trying to kill himself by running into the Shadow Isles for example has no honor. That would be considered stupid, not honorable, so no way he will do that. If he had a good reason to, then he would take that fight, but to just walk in would be the same as suicide realistically, if he was only going there trying to get killed, and there is no honor in that.

It is a bit of a difficult thing because they want to, as I said above, go down swinging before they get old, but at the same time they will fight tooth and nail to win.
