It's super duper cool that Shurima has officially risen and all...

  1. PRAISE THE SUN

2.But why do we care what one mummy is doing when the UNIVERSE IS IN DANGER?!?!?!

I'm really glad they're expanding the lore, but going straight from the extra-dimensional threat being battled by the Targonians to a group of slightly superhuman characters that barely managed to conquer ancient people is a bit of a downgrade. Plus, they didn't even do the Shurima event very long ago. AND that event already came with a new champion and skins.

But I'll be happy if they do something so in-depth for Yorick, and even happier when they finally stop pretending Kassadin doesn't exist.

Didn't you hear Aurelion? "Ah, mankind. Ever fumbling from one brink of cataclysm to the next." or how about "Humanity, surprisingly adept in the art of wrestling survival from the clutches of extinction." The universe has been in danger since long before runeterra existed. How does that change the importance of other stories? Bard has existed for eons, saving the universe again and again, just so they could exist.

Think of WW2. Sure it was a horrible far reaching war, but what do historians focus on? People's stories. These people have little importance to the entire war in and of itself, but they are still important to the world.

It's really not a downgrade, just a lower scale. A lot of the best stories have nothing to do with saving the world or the orphanage or whatever, they have to do with personal stakes and character relationships.

That's why I like Azir and Xerath's story way, way better than the Targon stuff. I don't really care about the giant space dragon fighting aliens, because I barely know either side there. But Azir and Xerath are both established characters, so I'm more interested in reading about them. That's just me personally, but the various levels and different connections are what make a plot...a plot. And yeah, the Shurima event was very recent, but it felt...unfinished. The big complaint with any League event that's not Burning Tides is "There was no conclusion". Well, it looks like this is going to be more conclusion and background for characters who lost theirs (Lookin' at you, Skarner), so I don't mind it.

(Also yes, the world needs to remember Yorick Mori.)
